Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone -

Any ideas on some 700 calorie dinner recipes?  I think I need some variety beyond grilled chicken and turkey burgers.

Thanks,

Chris

Well what kind of stuff do you like? I really like buffalo (bison) burger on whole wheat bun with my sauce*, with baked potatoe topped with freshly chopped green onions, greek yogurt and soy sauce.

*Sauce: Mix couple tbs of greek yogurt, with a tsp of Adobo sauce, and couple tsp of dijorn mustard. You can adjust ratio of mustard to Adobo or increase in general depending on how spicy you want it.

Thanks, that sounds awesome.  I like everything...which is probebly why I found myself +30lbs to begin with.

How about a few baked potatoes, sliced, with some low fat cheese melted on top? Those calories would add up, no doubt, especially if you serve it on the side of some kind of fatty fish, like salmon. Yummy protein and healthy fats.. -drools- If you can manage to stuff it down, some tossed leaves salad seasoned with a bit of lemon would taste heavenly along with the lot.

I like shrimp, salmon, broiled flank steak.... all with lightly steamed vegies and a mixture of brown rice, quinoa, and wheat berries (all cooked together). somretimes add a salad. Never gets boring to me!

how about sloppy joes on whole wheat bun and instead of ground beef use ground turkey or chicken. add your onions and peppers and a little chili powder and black pepper. yumm!

omg 700 cals is a huge dinner!  I WISH I could eat that much, lol.  I would probably do brown rice black beans and cheddar cheese.. a huge bowl of it.  Yum.

hahaha...I am on a 1900 calorie count, and usually have about 800 left at dinner.  I've found that to be a good daily number to keep me where I want to be and still let me pig out once in a while.

Never could do the brown rice thing though...

A decent low fat stir fry with some peanuts and cashew nuts thrown in

A tortilla wrap with grilled mushrooms, peppers, chicken, chopped avocado, chopped red onion, chopped tomato, low fat soured cream, and chopped fresh coriander

A bowl of chili with red and wild rice

Spaghetti Bolognese with roast tomato and pepper sauce and fresh basil

Home made beef burger

A 'lean' fry up with grilled back bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, baked beans, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms

A salad with grated: carrot, beetroot, cucumber, and cheese. Toasted pinenuts, dry fried bacon lardons, and a low fat soured cream and chive dressing with some red wine vinegar. Served with a medium baked potato

Grrrr...Hungry now!

Thanks.

this actually comes out about 50 calories over but i usually don't eat the entire ice cream cup so it works out in the end.

1/2 cup cooked spaghetti

1/2 cup spaghetti&meatball sauce

salad that includes 1/2 ounce of cubed cheese

2 tbsp creamy italian dressing

15 ounce glass of 2% milk

weight watchers mint chocolate chip ice cream cup

I have to repeat the "what do you like" question even if you say everything: is there anything you SPECIFICALLY like? List me...

Five favourite carbs (eg potatoes, rice, bread)

Five favourite proteins (try not to say all meats! But, eg - pork, beef, eggs, nuts, beans)

Five favourite fruits, and five favourite vegetables.

And I can give you some meal ideas. :D

I'm loving a homemade dinner roll and bowl of split pea soup.  This can be 400-700 or more calories depends on how big the roll is or if they are small have another.  You can also have another bean or other soup.

Also enchiladas or enchilada casserole (made the same way just layer the tortillas and other ingredients like a lasagna), along with salad/rice/beans something like that.

Ah, the favorites....tough to list now that I think about it...

Carbs:  Rice, Potato, Pasta, Bread

Protein - Chicken, Pork, Beef, Tuna, Eggs

Vegetable - Carrots, Corn, Onion, Yam, Peppers

Fruit - Apple, Plum, Pineapple, Pear, Banana

I appreciate the help!!!!

if you like lots of flavor and a little bit of spicy try Vietnamese Curry Chicken. I posted my recipe on here and it makes 8 servings. Its also only 530?? cals. so you can have a bit of rice with it too. You will definitely be full after this one!

I love curried anything.  Sounds really good.

I also JUST posted my Chicken Alfredo Recipe. Its about 450 a serving. add a salad to it and maybe a glass of wine and theres your 700 cals.

Its also super simple, only 5 ingredients total.

I would like to try the Viet Curry chicken recipe. Can you post it again?

Some Interesting Proteins For You To Try:

- Ostrich

- Elk

- Venison

- Bison

- Goat

- Eel (Unagi & Anago)

- Hamachi

- Sardines

- Escolar

- Sable Fish

- Mackerel

- Grass-fed Beef

- Salmon Belly

- Hamachi Kama (google it, it looks weird but it's delicious!)

- Poached Oysters

- Scallops

Healthy Fats To Try:

- Olive Oil & Olives (I am sure you have before) & Olive Tapenade

- Macadamia Nut Oils

- Flax Seeds& Flax Seed Oil

- Hemp Seeds & Hemp Seed Oil

- Rice Bran& Rice Bran Oil

- Sun Dried Tomatoes

I'd go with a fatty fish like WILD salmon, it's easy enough to find and one of THE BEST proteins you could ever put in your body. It's clean, easily digested, and chock full of healthy fats\ (OMEGA 3'S GALORE!)

take a nice big ol' 8-10 ounce fillet (skin on!) drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and your favourite fish seasonings.. then bake it

a nice big portion of salmon will easily add up to 400-600 calories

then on the side serve up a good serving of fiberous veggies (grilled, baked, steamed..etc) use vegetables that are non-starchy (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, brussel sprouts, zucchini, spinach, etc..)

no potatoes, yams, carrots, rice, pasta, bread.. etc

I suggest you avoid heavy carbs at dinner. It will help with your weight loss and help you sleep better. Especially since you are eating such a large dinner you don't want that much starchy carbs sitting in your stomach. You won't have time to burn them off before bed and they'll hinder fat loss, as they'll be more likely to be stored as fat at this time, since you're probably unlikely to be running around buring them off.. especially after such a big meal! I'd be ready for a nap!

Carbs are best eaten early in the day, and then lessened as the day progresses.. eating carbs before bed also interferes with the quality of your sleep as they cause body temperature to rise and extra "energy" you don't nessarily need at this time

The protein and fats from the salmon, and the fiber in the veggies will keep you satisfied all night.. you won't even miss those dinner rolls
