what is your opinion on these products... pam, splenda, diet soda...

not to be used in excess clearly and not in substitutuion of food.  I am asking purely from a counting standpoint..

Mine add up to 40 cals a day sometimes more when i make protein shakes and use the sugar free syrups.  Do I log it?  care about it?  I mean it has carbs and cals but doesn't effect weight at all.

It's not food.  It's not nutrition.  It's not even healthy for you and a habit I should stop but let's do one battle at a time shall we?  I'll kick the sweetners and smoking and shopping later... I put down drugs and binging and restricting already... leave me some vices:)

But when you count your daily calories... do you add them??

Well, it does affect your weight if you eat enough of it.  Calories are calories.

Personally, I think 'real' food is better than any of that fake chemical stuff.  But, a bit in moderation is certainly fine.

If you are going to be counting calories, then you should count them.  You count everything else, so why wouldn't you count that as well?  If 8 oz of diet soda = about 4 cals, and you have 5 a day, well that's 20 cals.  Then suppose you add a few packets of splenda to your coffee/tea...that's another 10 cals.  You use Pam to make your dinner...that's another 15 or so.  Add in some sugar free syrups for another 20 if you use a lot of it.  It all adds up.

So if you're using a LOT of this stuff, sure, you should count it.  If you're just having one diet soda a day and that's it, then I wouldn't worry so much about it.

Personally, I'd rather have real food.

I do eat enough of it.  Alot of it and I would also rather have real food.  RRRRRRR.  Now I am buggin' a little.

I use probably 4 stevia a day and 2 crystal light packets

Drink ALOT of carbonated flavored water all day.... about 5 or 6 liters!

Use pam when I cook and I cook all my meals

Use a good 2 oz of sugar free calorie free syrup in my protein shakes every day

And I am a fan of Mr. Walden's Farms sadly

Thats alot of freakin calories when you think about it....... panic.............................

Whoa.  Don't panic.  No reason to.

Granted that's a lot of fake food.  But it does mean you are eating more than you think you are, and thus it would be 'ok' to substitute REAL food for the same amount.

think you could do that?

but thats how i sweeten my food and cook... oh im so confused now.

Why so confused?

If you want to keep them, keep them.  Just keep in mind that they do have calories and do add up.  I was just saying that if you wanted to substitute real food for them, you could do that as well.  I would think real food would be more filling and make you feel better.  Having so much fake food is an ED behavior...drinking tons of diet soda and filling up on empty cals like that is a way to 'trick' your body into feeling more full.

i still eat all my cals im told... just thinking i have more than i thought is all.

ok... so it says stevia, waldens farms products my seltzer waters and the calorie free flavor syrup are  0 cals but that cant be true bc they use sweetners..  how do i log them?

i get how to log the pam and i dont drink diet soda or use spray butter...

i want to account for everything

well, one serving is really 4 cals for that sugar free stuff.  its a gram of carbohydrate.  So just make your own custom made foods and log them that way.

The spray butter is 7 cals/second roughly.  Its just under a gram of fat.
