35 Calorie-a-slice cheesecake!!

Quote  |  Reply
I think I'm going to try a recipe tonight and I'll let you guys know how it turns out...

You take 1/2 cup a boiling water, add sugar free jell-o (or unflavored gelatin w/ a flavored extract or cocoa powder), mix it until the gelatin's dissolved, put it in the blender w/ 2 cups of non-fat cottage cheese, then let it sit in the fridge.  Sound good?  I thought so.  I'll tell you guys how it is.

is the link to my chocolate "Whoppers" cheesecake. If you read through, I give steps too for the sugar free jello/fruity flavor cheesecake too.... Cals are only 18-20 for the fruit flavor one.

Holler if I can help.
"And I have to  blend that stuff to within an inch of its life! I can't abide by lumps in my cheesecake "
So, if I blend it longer, I can actually get rid of *all* the lumps, and make it 100% smooth?

Also, is there a way to get rid of the saltiness? I?m not worried about sodium at all, I just mean taste-wise.
moscovite,

What flavor did you make?

Salty was never a problem for me....I had to work hard at tasting to make sure I got rid of all the cottage cheese flavor....hhmmm,

And yes! I blend that stuff to within a inch of its life, and it's smooth eventually. =P

and red herring, sorry I missed this earlier.....Um, 12 cupcake size muffin papers. I just got the foil ones in my baking department with the frosting and cake mixes. I think they are a pretty standard cupcake size, but I did consider getting the mini muffin size for party food use. Bite size cheesecakes---yum!

I just used strawberry Jell-o ... I haven't made it again, since last time, but now I think I might make some tonight.

Yeah, the saltiness is definitely from the cottage cheese, so maybe if I make it even sweeter, it will mask it. And I'll blend it good this time :D

Thanks Olivia
Rock on, dudette!

I also found a capful of vanilla helped mask the flavor in the chocolate. I assume vanilla strawberry would be good too...... Today I will be eating the last of the chocolate batch I made--I'll try a new flavor sugar free jello.....strawerry banana peach, anyone?

Olivia, you've gotten to be a real pro with the analyzer!  I'm so proud of you!

I have yet to try this recipe, but I will do it before long.  I keep forgetting to buy gelatin or Jello.  I want to try cherry/chocolate or raspberry/chocolate.

When I do finally try it, I'll let you know about any variations, like cocoa powder instead of the mix.
Olivia, have you tried it with fat free ricotta?  Cottage cheese kinda skeeves me and it's alot higher in sodium than ricotta...

I made one with ricotta & strawberry sugar-free jello...but I forgot to add the vanilla...Mine came out with about 27 calories each!  but next time I will remember to add the vanilla.

Next on my list is to try your chocolate one!
I made it again last night, using Olivia?s chocolate idea. I didn?t, however, look off of the recipe, thinking I had it memorized. Perhaps I should have, because I totally messed up the proportions, and didn?t use enough gelatine? so I ended up with a cottage cheese milkshake. Lol? I?m never going to get this!

Oh! But this time, I blended it for about five minutes, so at least my milkshake was chunk-free =D

It's okay, I'm getting closer. Next time, I won't trust my estimates, and I'll do the whole thing right!
lol, moscovite. I was just winging it when I tried the chocolate one, having just picked up the sugar free hot chocolate on a craving. You'll find something that works for you. ( ;   (chunk free is good =P)

I'm thinking next one I make will just be a plain vanilla one topped with the different fruits I always have around.

Sorry, jem, never made it with ricotta although it certainly sounds possible. I actually considered trying to with fat free cream cheese too. I think that would work too... And I didn't put vanilla in my strawberry the first time either. It turned out sweet but a little tart too and was delicious spread over my mini caramel rice cakes. That said, strawberry vanilla sounds divine!
I have no idea how I missed it reading through the first time, but *beaming with pride* thanks, clairelaine! I had a good teacher!

( : I LOVE, love, love the recipe analyzer feature. I can pre-plan my soups and other meals for calories, fat, nutrition, etc. I find it a life saver and a godsend, all in one.

I also will wait with bated breath to hear your results with cocoa powder etc as I have never really mastered the art of "from scratch" baking and so keep none on hand. (blush) I just created the WHoppers cheesecake concoction because I was craving something chocolate and had just picked up the sugar free hot cocoa mix.

I sure do appreciate your help! ( ;

Anyone tried any new combos recently?

I was looking to try something exotic....... maybe a pineapple one? (hhhmmmmmm, pina colada.......)
lemon cheesecake with sf raspberry jam swirled into it?
I don't eat Aspartimine, so sugar-free jello is out for me.  I want to try this cheesecake and will try the unflavored gelatin and I have some orange extract so will use that and put some berries on top.  It sounds really good.
i just read in women's day a recipe for a margarita cheesecake which sounds like a key lime flavored cheesecake and they put a splash of tequila in it. i don't know if i'll do the tequila but the key lime flavor sounds so refreshing on a hot summer day... *drooling*
And I have key lime jello right now!

(on my list of things to do---make green cheesecake....)

Another random cheesecake-ing story:

So the last one I made had to much water and not enough jello, so it came out in a wierd ice cream type thing!!

It's currently sitting in my freezer, i'm excited!! 35 cal a serving cheesecake ice cream!!
Every calroie count is different depending on brand and ingredients. Put it into the recipe analyzer.

I just made a half-batch of raspberry (1 c cottage cheese, 1/2 pkt jello, raspberries and splenda. Forgot the vanilla :() It looked REALLY thick so I hope thats just cos its a cold morning and it doesnt turn too jello-y. next time I'll swirl some vanilla yogurt thru it at the end, so its raspberry swirl. Will let you know on the taste. The hardest bit is not to lick the bowl! Its brekkie time and the lefover scrapings would oddly enough go nicly on a piece of fruit toast...

Hey, maybe I'm blind but I can't see where you find the food # [00000]  Where is this, cause it could be a big help with the recipe analyzer?
Well the verdict is - next time, 1/2 the diet jelly, and using gelatine, as is overpoweringly raspberry, tho nice enough to eat. Nota  cheesecake falvour, but very nice anyway. For me its 45 cal a slice as I dont have no fat CC, but its yummy and worth making. But I need to give it a new name, so I can feed it to non-dieters. Cheesecake is misleading...
I used graham wafer on the bottom and 1% cottage cheese.  Works out to 52 cal/ cup.  Ohhhh so good!  :) I ate 2 right after dinner they were that good.  I am thinking they will be even better once they have had longer to "gel".  So how do I get  the jello and the graham wafers to add to the recipe analyzer.  They don't calculate.  Where do I find the [00000] food # because I found them in the database?
