Is the Calorie Target Tool correct?

The Calorie Target Tool says I should eat about 1800 calories per day. I exercise 7-10 hours a week, moderate- to high- intensity, and trained for two endurance events all summer. I'm hungry eating 1800 calories, but I'd like to lose a few pounds (3-5). How much do I really need to eat?

On 1800 calories a day with a “moderate activity level”, you can (in theory) lose one pound per week; however, on 2050 calories a day, you can lose 0.5 pounds a week. Choose the rate of weight loss that feels right to you. Unfortunately, weight loss can be a hunger-invoking experience, especially when you are trying to get to the low end of the healthy weight range. You can forestall hunger by adding snacks in between meals, eating more high-fiber, low-calorie foods (e.g. raw vegetables, popcorn, etc.) and by filling up on zero-calorie fluids.
