calorie target tool on this site scared me tonight after i made good steps all week!
it told me in order to reach my goal by jan 1st (my goal date) i need to have 1613 cals...... ummmm... i do more than that? is it right?? oh the voices...
. is it bc this is a diet site or am i doing too much?
other people dont even gain or maintain on way more than me... my nutritionist is gonna get an earfull tomm.
anyone know why this site has me at such low cals???
Are you including your exercise and looking at the burn meter number for the day, or just looking at the eat meter goal (which is basically the resting metabolic rate)?
DANA-dont even look at it, dont use it, ignore it
i dont exercise at all i have a heart condition. i wrote in "light activity"
you are right agru i shouldn't have looked i was curious and now im upset.
hhmmm maybe using that wasn't such a good idea.....this site was intentially for weight losses, not gains.
that's more than likely your BMR, not including any movements outside of bed whatsoever, i made this mistake so i though 88pound was healthy. you need far more especially if gaining. if i were to personally guesstimate for you, provided you do no exercise (including walking btw) i'd say at least 2000cals if you could, how much you eat is going to determine how fast, remember 3500cals is one pound of fat, not including any fluids and shifts. so really you could go up to 5000cals or to whichever point you feel full and sick.
although average maintaining for a healthy women is like 1800cals, your gaining on that now because you body is after the cals it need and wants. im a kid, so if i run around a bit i would like to maintain on 2000 or higher, so i dont feel like im missing out :) like lalabanana says, healthy doesn't have a decimal point, only you can decide whats right for your body. eat what you and your body both agree on, which i am telling you is more than 1600cals daily...
The tools on this site, just as much as they are inaccurate for teens, do not apply to gainers either. You will need to get to at least 2500 to rev your metabolism no matter what a calculator tells you and go from there. Don't let it discourage you, you've been doing really well.
Um, if I ate what these calculators say to maintain, I'd be dead by now.
Even adding 1000 calories to what it says fora "2lb gain per week" would be in calculation alone--not even taking me to maintanance levels in REALITY.
What matters is real life, not some calculation, right?
What are your goals, where do you want to be--work with that, not a calculator.
youre right. i told my nutritionist today and she told me to stop researching everything on the internet and just listen to her:)
i guess since anorexia has so much to do with control its hard to give so much trust in one person with my weight.
I'm not sure how these sites calculate this because none of them, cc or others, ahve been accurate for me. All the numbers seem really low even when I enter in very active even though I'm sedentary or only lightly active on some days. I don't think any calculators can take into account differences in everyone's body, though honestly, I think no matter who you are, you need more than this site tells you. It tells me something like 1600 to maintain, though in my experience i lose on under 2500. Even nutritionists might be wrong because I went to one when i was eating over 3000 a day because I still wasnt gaining and she had no idea why. Even her calculators ahd me at 1700 or so for maintenance. Eventually after a few weeks at 4000 I started gaining but it was really confusing. The only way I've figured anything out is trial and error in order to really see what my body needs.
Sorry that was sort of jumbled, i hope I made sense. bottom line is only you can figure out what you need, jump up the calories and see what happens. Eventually you do want to get away from the numbers and just listen to your body. As others have said some days might be higher, some lower, but most people probably don't even notice this or at least don't take note of it. Keep working on eating as much as you can for now though and worry about maintenance later. You'll be fine! keep up the great work!
Oh, and post pics of your cute new haircut!
