calorie vs kcalorie

So on my DDR workout mode, it counts the calries as "kcal". Is this unit the same as regular calories?

Yes... a calorie really is a kilocalorie, for some reason everyone just calls it a calorie.

actually, officially it should be capitalized when used to mean kcal. So 1 Calorie = 1 kcal = 1000 calories. But people get sloppy and you figure it out from context, I guess.

Flowerbud, its funny you metioned that context because the reason I asked this question was because I am learning that right now in chemistry and actually having a bit of a hard time with the conversions! haha Thanks guys for the info!:)

With the exception of chemistry class I don't think anyone actually means 1 calorie when they say "calorie."  We always mean 1 kcal.  (ya, no one really cares that it's incorrect)
