How many calories do you all consume?
Hello All,
I have lost about 10 pounds and looking to drop 15 more....but hit a wall and can't seem to eat less then 1,200 calories a day. I usually eat from 1,250-1,400 per day but in order for ME personally to lose any weight, I can't eat over 1,200 per day it seems. Those calories add up and besides a homemade cookie or two, I WATCH everything I eat.
I don't get it? I have been bouncing b ack and forth with the same 3 or 4 pounds. Down 10 pounds then down pounds 13 now back up and I'm only down 10 again.
This week for example, I burned over 2,000 calories at the gym ( 4 days at the gym)...and I ate no more then 1,450 each day this week and I have not dropped a pound.
What do you consume in a day?
I know I'll be one of the first in a flood of people saying it, but DON'T go under 1200! You might want to trying increasing your calories and working out a bit longer to push through this bit of being stagnant, but dropping too many calories won't do you any favors.
You might want to actually eat MORE--your body is saying it wants it by holding onto that annoying weight! A change might be all you need to kick start things back up <3

Oh TRUST me, if I eat under 1,200 it's b/c I have the flu or something and in bed all day!! LOL....Couldn't eat less less then 1,200 if I tried!
Haha, most excellent, then! I do wish you all the best! I'm sure in a week you'll be right back on track <3
depending on what my day looks like: yesterday 1548 calories for example and that still meant having a 1000 calorie deficit, I mostly keep around that, so I really count in my exercises and make sure I got my deficit right, so never more than 1000 deficit, to be sure I never ever under eat, like this I actually have quite some room to have a little cheat, indeed like a cookie or so.
For the rest I have to chime in with katy, she's right it will actually hurt you when you eat too little, more so than eating closer to your maintenance amount of calories.
For example, I am a 5'5" woman, I'm 48 on Super Bowl Sunday, I work out very vigorously six days a week and I eat 1700 calories to maintain.
I would also challenge you to weigh and measure all your food, especially those homemade cookies you mentioned. They add up. I know I tend to slip up on peanut butter and unless I measure my two tablespoons, pretty soon I've got more like four tablespoons on my sandwich. My daily calorie budget can accomodate two tablespoons but not four :-)

i am 5'4" and 165 pounds. medium build.
i was just told to up my calories. I am trying to take in 1750. My trainer told me I am taking in too few and that could be holding me back from losing weight. Also I am looking to get a bit more muscular. Somewhere between toned and ripped, I guess.
So I am uppng my proteins and eating more times during the day. Up to 8x, which includes snacks and all.
I am going neck in neck with carbs and proteins. Around 47% each. With a few for fats.
Is this OK?
I know I definitely don't eat enough calories....i'm eating 11-1200 a day....and that means I'm having a 12-1300 deficit....I feel kind of logy. I work 15-16 hours per day and haven't had much time for exercise. Good thing, because I'm too tired to exercise anyway. Anyone have any ideas. Should I start eating 100 more per day until I increase to 1400-1600. Then I should have LOTS of energy to work out. I'm afraid if I just increase I'll gain back the 14 that I've lost already!!
any tips?
I eat about 1100-1700 calories a day depending on the types of proteins I include with my meals... Varying your calorie consumption daily is a sure-fire way to increase your metabolism because doing this keeps it guessing!
What types of foods do you eat? Despite watching everything you eat, some staple in your diet could be the cause to why you are HOLDING ON to your pounds - you could be allergic to a specific food - popular allergin = DAIRY PRODUCTS! I would try & eliminate those and see what happens!
I eat an average of 1829 calories per day:
Sun: 1800 (30 min intense cardio every other Sunday)
Mon: 2000 + 30 min intense cardio and strength training
Tue: 1400
Wed: 2800 + 60 min intense cardio and strength training
Thu: 1200
Fri: 1500
Sat: 2100 + 30 min intense cardio and strength training
And have lost 70 lbs since June doing it this way!

Wow reading all your posts has made me realize I'm not eating anywhere near enough calories! I eat about 300-500 calories a day, I have days where I eat a lot more than that, probably close to 2000 calories, but about 4 days a week, I am consuming less than 500. I've lost about 15 lbs in the last month and a half but maybe I could be losing more by boosting the calorie intake? Also I don't work out at all right now, will be starting yoga this week.
The minimum daily calories for adult females is 1200 calories per day. Calorie Count Plus's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management. Please help our moderators follow this vision .... it just isn't healthy to eat 300-500 calories per day!
