Calories in Bailey's Irish Cream
WOW!!!
Bailey's site says 403 calories in 1.5 ounces..... this site says 94 calories for 1.3 ounces. That is a huge difference. This drink is way beyond my calories allotment. Shame, it WAS a favorite of mine.
www.fitday.com does not list Baileys but says Cordial or Liquer is 106.5 calories in 1 ounce. So I'd thing the Bailey's site is right and it would have more fat than the standard liqueur or cordial.
I'd say keep it for your "off diet" day. You've got one right?!
Hey the mint chocolate version is what is getting me through my summer flu. Do you have any idea how horrible it is to have the flu when its over 100 degrees outside?
I don't know if Im still losing weight because the only thing I can swallow with my sore throat is liquids or what, but at least until I get over this, the bailey's stays on my diet.
Bailey's is frigin amazing. Don't quit on it! Work it in! It's sooooooooooooo worth it. I've been getting a hankering for some lately. I am going to remind myself to pick up some on the way home tomorrow for a nice drink to celebrate the end of the work week. Yes...yummy.
i love it - but i only have it very occassionally now. sob.

Make your own, it is cheaper and you can make it lower in fat since you control the ingredients.
Oh I think I love you! Thanks!
mmmmm i love Baileys!
In the winter, mixed with hot chocolate near the fire place !
I also saw on the Bailey's website that there are 403 calories in 1.5 oz. I thought that was really high. So I emailed Bailey's and got the following response:
Dear Sir/madame,
Thank you for your email which was forwarded to me via the Baileys website. We are delighted to hear from consumers with keen interest in our brand.
The Baileys website information is currently being updated and this is incorrect. I can confirm that Baileys has 163.5 cal per 50ml/6.5g of fat.
We are based in Ireland and deal with all queries for both UK and Ireland. WE working grammes in Europe therefore i do not have this information in ounces.
Hope this helps.
Knd Regards,
Pam

Damn! I knew it was calorie laden goodness, but wowzas!
Making your own is a FANTASTIC idea! I'm so experimenting with this! For christmas this year I'm infusing a bunch of liquor to give as gifts (lemon lavender vanilla vodka, strawberry apricot tarragon ancho tequila, vanilla fig persimmon cardamom burbon).
I'll have to make up a test batch of Bailys too.
Ideas?
1 c Light cream
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 2/3 c Irish Whiskey
1 ts Instant coffee
2 tb Hershey's chocolate syrup
1 ts Vanilla
1 ts Almond extract
Combine all the ingredients in a blender set on high
speed for 30 seconds. Bottle in a tightly sealed container
and refrigerate. The liqueur will keep for at least 2
months if kept cool. Be sure to shake the bottle well
before serving.
Makes 4 cups.

I'm thinkin:
2 14-oz can evaporated skim milk
1 cup Splenda
1 2/3 c Irish Whiskey
2 Tbsp Instant coffee
1 Tbsp Vanilla
1 ts Almond extract
Thoughts? If the evaporated skim milk/splenda mixture is too thin, I could reduce it in a saucepan...
sorry im a little late on the thread. but its is 94 cals for 1.3 oz (a shot glass)
the calories are in alcohol , andd the flavoring is synthetic , there for the calories are only in the alcohol , the higher the % the more calories it has (not counting the flavoring or any added sugars to any liquors)
