Both the brown and white varieties have no cholesterol and almost no fat, however both also contain only trace amounts of vitamins and minerals and are high in carbohydrates. Brown basmati rice has only slightly better nutritional content than its white counterpart, since it contains slightly more vitamins, minerals, and protein. The best way to enjoy basmati rice health benefits is to make it a component of a well-balanced meal.

Is Basmati Rice Good For You?

Basmati rice can be beneficial to certain groups of people. Those on low-calorie diets can benefit from incorporating this grain into their diets since it is so low in fat. However, at slightly over 200 calories per cup, the calories can pile up if not eaten in moderation. Those people with advanced kidney disease can also benefit from eating basmati rice since it is low in potassium and phosphorus, which must be restricted for those suffering from this disease. For all others, like everything else, eating basmati rice in moderation will contribute to properly fueling the body.
