Calories Burned converted to pounds lost

I know that you want to burn between 500 and 1000 calories a day more than what you take in to lose weight, but does anyone know how many pounds per week (or day) that converts to? 

For example, if I burn 500 calories a day more than I take in, then in a week, approximately how many pound could I expect to have lost?  And if I burned 1000 more, then how many pounds?   I know this is a very inexact science with lots of variables, but I would like a rough idea.

Every 3500 cals equals 1lb.  So you need a 500 cal deficit every day to loose a pound.

From my understanding... 3500 calories equals 1 pound, so to speak.  So if you want to lose 1 lb a week, you need to burn roughly 3500/7days=500 more calories than you consume every day.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info!  Of course, it's sooo much easier to put it on than take it off!

Yeah, really... the max power output I can muster according to my stationary bike is 2800 cal/hour in sprints... but I could EAT that much in a minute!  

Agreed.  Currently, I'm trying to exercise Damage Control.

Driving past the fast food places and sucking it up so that I can eat what I have at home.  Drinking more water.

I'm glad I found this thread.  I was a bit lost at to how much more Burn calories I needed past my Eat calories to make progress.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for clearing up that confusion.  Now, I need to go kiss my Polar F11 and tell it that I won't neglect it anymore.
