Calories Burned Golfing

Quote  |  Reply

So I went golfing for four hours today, and I was curious as to how many calories I was burning. The puts it at 300+ calories/hour for walking and carrying clubs. Over four hours, that adds up to around 1500 calories. I can not believe that I burned 1500 calories, so I was curious as to how accurate this is. What does everyone else think?

I'd say that sounds about right - approximately 100 of that will be calories you'd have burned anyway, putting the extra work of walking, carrying clubs, and swinging the clubs at about 200 per hour.

Hope you had a great round!

calories burned while inactive is about 72? i think, so walking and carrying the clubs probably burned almost another 200, so it's probably quite accurate, maybe a bit under

I'm with you. I played golf today, and rode a cart, and I have a hard time believing I burned 1000 cal, let alone 1500.  I'm tired, but not more than I am after spending 30 minutes on an Eliptical trainer and burned about 300 cal. It's just not that kind of super-calorie burning activity!

I shot a 114, so you figure, with practice swings, I may have swung the club 200-300 times. That's really the only "exercise" I did.  They should do the calculations by your score not  how many minutes you spent! Wink

How can I make walking fun?

You have to find a way to make exercise fun or else you won't do it. If you walk indoors on a treadmill, I recommend moving outdoors into the fresh air... Read more
