So just wondering, if you guys and girls coud post how long you exercise for a day, what you do and how many calories you burn.. You can just enter an avergae calories burned for the week...Sunday to Saturday.
I'm just curious as to where everyone stands and how off I am with others..
I do mostly cardio, so last week I averaged 839 calories burned from running/walking.
this week so far I am at 676calories with 3 more days to go..

Well I usually work out 5-6 days I do cardio the Elliptical (about 40 mins) and run and walk (for 35 mins) Usually that takes me about an hour to an hour and a half. I burn about 520 cals aday. And on Sundays I go twice so i burn about 900 cals then.
Looking at my last week from Saturday to sunday I burned 2836 cals

omg I feel like such a weaklin...haha..and I want to lose weight....
Rahana... I believe that you weigh less than half of what I weigh.
Rahana.. I believe, were you stiff as a board, that I could bench press you.
Hence, if you were doing the same activity I was doing, no way would you be burning 6,600 calories/week :)

I have been burining about 12-15 thousand calories a week. Taekwondo burns close to 1000 cals an hour so it doesn't take long. Throw in walking for about an hour each day and lifting weights several times a week and it adds up pretty quick. My problem now is trying to eat enough good-for-me food to fuel the bod.
What about for beginners who have not been active? What is a good starting place? I posted before that I am a single mom, I work full time and go to school at night. My time is limited, and of course I am not used to activity. Where is a good starting place?
start anywhere! walk for 15 minutes! if anything is more than you've been doing, do SOMETHING!
(I'm running apx 30 mile weeks now, so 3K+ cals... whoa, more than I thought! but when I started, I think I had 200 cal weeks, so... anything is better than nothing!)

Very true, something is better than nothing. Thanks, and that is awesome to have moved up so far!
According to my activity log the last 7 days add up to 8232.8, with lows of 500 and highs of 1800 on any day. This is on top of BMR cals.
I still am confused by the activity log - I have set myself as sedentry, and then add everything I do.

I average about 500 pure exercise calories a day. I do not count up the many activities I do on a daily basis.

Let see - I'm 5'3, 37 y/o, and weigh 168-170 lbs.
Here's what I do....
Three times a week I go to curves - I wear a heart rate monitor. I burn 260 each work out. Then I come home and workout (upper body) with dumbells (abt 20 minutes) I burn about 140 calories. And, Once a week, I attend a belly dance workshop. I burn approximately 500-700 calories per class. My daily consumption is approximately 1600-2000. I'm not losing weight or losing inches. Booohooooo!!!
So, here's my strategy . Continue to workout with dumbells. Increase cardio (I just bought a road bike). Belly dance twice a week; Turbo Jam 3x a week. I don't plan on decreasing my calorie intake, but I"m going to watch fat intake and consume more fruits.
Hopefully this new strategy will work.

i run 45-50 miles per week which means, if it is true that one burns about 100 cals per mile, i am burning a whole heck of a lot of calories! man, i need to reevaluate my eating, i should be losing weight faster! dang, maybe i still need to eat more...
meljo,
That's contingent upon the intensity of the running--the harder the intensity, the more you burn calories from your glycogen stores (as opposed to fat). Also, at your rate of activity, the body needs to draw from all available sources. If you're eating too few calories, the body will be less likely to burn a lot off...how many cals are you eating per day? What's your height/weight? How long have you been running? Etc.

tuscaloosarunner, i actually think i am losing weight at a healthy rate, one that will enable me to maintain the loss... so long as i keep up the exercize and better food choices! i am actually losing a bit faster than i'd set for my goal... i am 9 lbs from my goal weight, which i initially set out to reach by 1 september. i started running again in january of this year (after a 6 year hiatus, yes, year!), and counting cals in march. altogether i've lost 27 pounds. i am 5'3, and currently 136 lbs. i run 6 days/week, and my mileage typically adds up like this: sunday 4 miles, monday 6, tuesday & wednesday 9, thursday 6, friday 12, saturday off. i do occassionaly boost the 6 mile days to to 9, and at a minimum, i walk the extra three, just for the miles. i run according to my heart rate (i wear a monitor), staying in my zone. the only exception is my 4 mile run, i push that one. i track my cals by my heart rate monitor as well, and do stay within a 500-800 calorie deficit... i am burning so many cals i actually have a hard time getting very far above the 800 cal deficit... but, I DO! i am really commited to doing this healthily!!
I do cardio at the gym 4 times a week and don't stop on the elliptical (sp?) bike until I've reached at least 300 calories burned. Then I do 30 minutes of weights. I'm not sure how much I burn doing weights.
I also try to walk during lunch at work, so maybe 30 minutes of very light walking every day.

Had to stop and try to figure it all out. I usually do cardio every day. Up until I hurt my back at work nearly 3 weeks ago I would do 1 hour on the treadmill burning 425 to 450 calories every night. I started lifting weights and was doing that 3 times a week for about 30 minutes and that added on about 80 calories. So around 2000 to 2500 calories a week burned just with working out. I can't wait to get back to that.
Last week I burned 5881 calories.
I do something every day, with a low of 479 and a high of 1116. I'm 5'8", 155 lbs. and 45 min on the elliptical, level 13 burns 730 calories for me. I also bike, jog and do tae-bo, depending on my schedule.

I was just wondering?? Do you guys deduct activity points from calories taken in like Weight Watchers points or not?
i don't do any weight watcher points, not sure how that whole system works actually... i also don't deduct the calories i burn from any activity other than my actual workout. i figure that my normal calorie expenditure covers things like cleaning house, walking to the store, doing wash, etc... i'd be curious to know how many people deduct EVERYTHING, i mean who counts their shower?
I was only talking about planned workouts. I don't pay any attention to the "brushing your teeth" calories burnt.
But if I burn 700 calories riding my bike for an hour or so do I deduct that? Does anyone do that?
