calories burned working?
i just decided to enter in "working" into the activity log here, and as i am a waitress i chose the "serving food" option. i was surprise to find that a day of work burned way more calories than i do when i go for bike rides for excercise! is this right? a 7 hour shift, (its a very busy restuarant, so there isnt much standing around) burned 1,039 calories! that seems crazy to me. there is no way to compensate for that much excercise, but i was just wondering what you all thought? i suppose carrying those trays and walking a lot ought to tone my arms and butt too! cheaper than a gym membership, thats for sure.
I waitressed for a while, that doesn't surprise me. 7 hours on your feet is a long time, it could be over 1000 cal. But I know I ate way more than I burned of fatty restaurant food. Don't let all the walking justify the "few bites" of whatever, that'll kill any benefit you're getting.
yeah it is probably right!
i work as a waitress too and if you think about it you do a hell of a lot of walking, lifting plates, running up and down stairs, cleaning tables ect. x
