How Many Calories Do You Eat...?
Hey, guys. How many calories do you eat, how much exercise do you do( 30 mins, 1 hourm how many days a week?)
I eat 1500 and do an hour everyday except I usually only do 30 mins 1 day a week. I'm nervous- I want to be 120 by November 28th- should I eat 1400? How much do the rest of you eat?
Reason: Locked. Promotion of starvation diets or habits that exhibit signs of an eating disorder ("pro-ana", "pro-mia", etc.) is prohibited.
I'm about 125-130lbs. I work out for at least 1-2 hours 5 or 6 days a week (high school xc, track, and basketball) and eat about 2700 calories during the week and 3200 on the weekends.
I'm sure I will not be the only one to say this, but do not eat below 1500 a day. That is the bare minimum for teens and trust me, I went through an ED eating that much a day. With the amount I eat now, I have no idea how I did it. Our growing bodies need nourishment so make sure you listen to its needs! :)
you shouldn't be eating less than 1500 calories! anyone can lose weight on 1500 calories, unless you're a toddler or something :)
i'm 5'4", 118 lbs and looking to lose a little excess flab. i've got a small frame, so i'd like to look a little better, but it's not like i think i'm fat or anything so don't get worried :)
anyway, i eat around 1600 because i don't exercise much (i'm trying, but i'm so lazy!) i try to exercise when i can remember (walk the dogs, jog in place in front of the tv, or whatever) but yeah. it's not really a set thing, but i do theatre so i guess you could say the dancing is my exercise :) 1600 feels like a lot to me and definitely satisfies me but i know i should exercise more which in the end would lead to eating more!
Right now I'm eating around 1500-1700 a day. I work out probably 20-30 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week. It may not sound like much, but it's Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. It's really kicking my butt.
I just did the Shred literally 10 minutes ago. I'm so beat. When I can finally move again, I'll make myself dinner which will bring my total for the day to about 1750.
It's important to eat enough. You may find that you'll actually lose more if you eat more. I can't say if you'll make it to your goal by November 28th, but if you eat sensibly and work out and maintain a deficit of no more than 1000 calories, you'll definitely look and feel better by then.

You had an eating disorder eating 1500 calories? Or like 1300? I used to eat that.

Do you think I'll reach 120 by December 4th? Because until I'm in the lower 120s, I don't feel good. Seriously, everyday I wear huge jeans and t-shirts.

butting in here....
my guess is if you're at 128, you'll probably be around 122 if you lose 1 lb a week? :) just eat ENOUGH so your metabolism doesn't totally die on you (you can probably eat a little more, even!) and i think you'll definitely be in that range by december :)

How many times do you have to be told? This must be about the 20th time you have asked and been told the same thing: 1500 is the minimum weight loss amount for sedentary teens. You are obviously not sedentary, therefore should be eating more.
I don't know why you ask how many calories other people are eating; it's totally irrelevant to you because other people have different needs. I also don't know why you ask if you should be eating 1400 when you've been told so many times on different threads what you should be doing.

Well 1500 calories makes me feel fat and I haven't been losing weight on it!
Believe it or not, you might not be loosing because you're eating too little. You do at least some activity, and I assume you're a teen, so unless you're in a coma, 1500 is too low for you. I'd suggest entering your stats here: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html and subtracting ~500 calories from the section that applies to you. It sounds counterintuitive I know, but it's the only way to break your plateau.

Yes, I ate anywhere from 1200 to 1500, but with my sports, I should have been eating 3500. I lost 30 lbs in one month, my hair started falling out, and all I wanted to to do was sleep.
crazyperson01, 1500 makes you feel fat? What???
If you are not losing weight on 1500 calories you need to see your doctor for a medical condition. On this website we do not support any teenagers eating less than 1500 calories. That is the bare bones minimum. In fact, we really want teens to be eating more than 1500 calories.
Calorie Count's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management. We do not support starvation diets, less than 1500 calories IS a starvation diet.
Promotion of starvation diets or habits that exhibit signs of an eating disorder ("pro-ana", "pro-mia", etc.) is prohibited.

maybe you're not losing weight on it because unless you're really short and a couch potato, you should really be eating more than that. and if it makes you feel fat, i would try eating healthier foods. if all of those 1500 calories are greasy mcdonald's burgers, of course you feel fat. i can't imagine NOT losing weight on 1500 calories, since i'm still losing on 1600...
i also see that your goal weight is 105 from the 13/14 thread... that's a bmi of 17.5, putting you in the underweight category, unless you still have the body of a nine year old, so i think you definitely have some unhealthy thoughts about this... it doesn't matter if it makes you feel fat. bump up your calories a bit. eat a banana or some nuts. try for 1700... you aren't overweight from what i saw so there's really no reason to have such a huge deficit anyway. a girl of your age, height, and weight and low activity burns 2100 calories just by being. you almost have a 1000 calorie deficit which i doubt is recommended for a girl like you who's already slim.
Okay, thank you everyone for replying. i will try to eat 1500...What are some good foods I can eat? and days when I'm going out and will be eating more calories( unhealthy probably like to a birthday party) can I eat 100-200 calories less a couple days before?

NO!! you need 1500 minimum, not maximum. the couple hundred extra at the party will be good for you. don't worry about being so rigid. 1500 is like the starting point, not the key to weight loss for someone your age.
Yes, I have to agree. 1500 is the minimum not something to try for. Sorry but your posts are against posting guidelines and this thread is therefore being locked. If you are looking for some nutritious food ideas, feel free to start a new post in the Foods forum.
