calories in, eating back, and what?!?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm reading so much on these forums about stuff like eating back calories, calories in/calories burned, and people doing all kinds of maths to figure out deficits, and it's confusing the HECK out of me.  So to make it simple (hopefully?) here's my question:

If I am putting everything in my food and exercise logs correctly, and I look at my account and can see that if my total calories burned is higher than my total calories consumed, then I'm good?  I mean like maybe 1000 calories higher.  Is it that simple?  I think it is.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Yes, you are correct but try not to go past a 1000 deficit.  It is better between 500-1000.  Think of it this way.  Take your allowance and add any exercise calories burned.

So lets say your allowance is 1500  and you burn 400 in the gym or working out so add 1500 + 400 = 1900 so that is how much you should eat on days you work out.  And the 400 would be your deficit.  Another thing try not to go below 1200 for women/ 1500 for men calories a day.
yep, that's the way i've done it since i found cc :)  and i try to keep the deficit between 500 - 1,000,

and i try not to drop below the minimum recommended calories of 1,200 for women or 1,500 for men...
United, did you gain weight after quitting smoking?? I quit July 4, 2006 and have gained 50 pounds!! I know I replaced smoking with food for the first few months. Now, I'm finding it nearly impossible to loose any weight at all.
