1000 calories....

Quote  |  Reply

Hey All

I'm just curious, I'm about 200lbs and 5'8 and I'm trying to eat between 1500-1800 calories a day. My calorie should be 2100 if I am not mistaken. I have read if you decrease your calorie intake buy 500 a day---->500 x 7 days=3500 you could loose about 1lb a week .

I have been using my air climber everyday for an 1hour, I burn about 1000 cal. I am wondering if I do this everyday which is about 7000 cal burn in a week and eat normal maybe exceeding my 1800 cal intake, am i benefiting from the work out? WILL I loose weight?

Thanks!

Well, the exercise is good for you, but if you don't want your calorie deficit to be too large.  You will lose, weight, but what you really want to lose if fat, and if you lose too quickly  -- more than about 1-2 pounds per week -- you will start losing muscle as well.

So, if you are really burning 1000 calories per day on your air climber, then you should probably be eating closer to the 2100 so that your calorie deficit is not too large.

That and your body simply won't let you lose more weight than is safe (unless you break its defense mechanisms like Hollywood starlets do).  If the calorie deficit is too great, your body will go into famine mode and slow the metabolism to hold onto what it has.  This is why it's difficult to lose more than 1-2 lbs. per week in general for an average person.
