How Many Calories in....

Quote  |  Reply

Today my friend's mom offered me a piece of fruit/nut bread made with like amish flour or something haha. So I'm wondering how much was in it. The piece was about 6 x 2.5 x .5 inches. I just want an estimate. I guessed 400 so I cut 400 cals out of my intake today, but then I had an extra kitkat bar for about 110 cals so I want to know how much I went over. Is 400 too much or too little of a guess?

there's no real way to tell without knowing how dense the bread is. 1 slice of raisin bread is about 1/2inch thick but it's shorter and wider and has about 140 calories per slice usually...so 2 of those could easily be the same dimensions for a bit less than 300cals so i think 400 is reasonable but again there's no way to tell without knowing how dense the bread was and what was used to make it.

I just found a recipe for it and assuming I had about 1/10 of it, that puts me at 454 calories. So if I eat 164 calories less tomorrow, will I be okay?

you'll be okay regardless. just resume your regular eating. 164 calories is like less than an ounce gained, forget about it.

have you just come out of inpatient treatment for an ED?  please tell your parents that you're using this site for these purposes.  if you're not still in treatment, i strongly suggest you also speak with them about re-entering.  in the mean time, i recommend you refrain from posting any questions about calories or weight gain, as both are going to be detrimental to your recovery.

I have been in recovery for about a year and a half. Recently though, I've decided to just lose some of the gained weight. Not too much of it, just a little bit. And I think I'm doing okay and I'm definitely not slipping back. I've decided to just eat normally as I have been doing for today because logically, even the extra 100some calories won't make me gain.

Thanks though.

you posted that you're eating 1400 calories and have made a few other posts expressing concern about things that you've eaten.  i'd say that you're very much still in recovery and should not be looking to lose weight at the height and weight you've stated.  EDs are vicious and stay with you your entire life if not properly addressed early on.  don't settle for being better than you were.  you can have more than that.  just because you're not at risk of dying doesn't mean that you've moved beyond the control that food and weight have on your life.  don't settle for this kind of lifestyle.
