Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k Is 1500 calories okay?
I just cannot get down to 1200 calories a day. I can't. I am walking for 1 hour and burning 340 calories each day.
So should I just suck it up and make myself only each 1200?

sounds good. if your trying to lose weight, simply descre your intake by 500.. boom thats it.
I think that 1500 is just fine, especially when you're walking and buring that many calories doing exercise.
When you did the information to Calculate Calories for Goal Weight what did it say for your calorie intake and how long to reach goal.
Rule of thumb women should not consume any less than 1,200 cals per day.
As long as you are exercising 1,500 should be fine.
also do the Daily calories burned questionairre as well.

1 Sarah to another...
You are busy, active and looking after kids. 1500 intake is still low enough to lose weight, (so is 1800 for most people) just a little bit more slowly then you may want. Slower weight loss = better longterm control.
with your walking you are at the 1200 mark anyway!

1200 isn't a magic number, sugar. 1500 is really a healthy range of calories for your activity level. I'm a 1500 calorie eater myself. I like food.... :)
1500 sounds right on the money. :) especially if you are active. stay strong.
1200 is the absolute minimum that a woman should eat, it's not a magic number for weight loss regardless of your weight and height. Without more information about you, I have no idea what a good calorie range is for you. Try using the tools here and going for a 500-800 calorie deficit. I'm 5'7", I started Jan 14th at 225 lbs, I now weigh 190 lbs. I eat 1700-2100 calories a day, depending on my exercise. Most days, I have around a 500 calorie deficit. This certainly hasn't stopped my weight loss!
I should eat 1500 calories a day, plus what I burn in exercise... I find it really hard to eat that much :/
I mean it's 5:30pm now and I'm still only on 1200 and I should eat up to 1900 today because of my exercise.
Alas.

You're eating 1500 and burning over 300. That comes out to 1200 net. You're fine!
