CALORIES??

Quote  |  Reply
To lose at least 1 pound a week, I've been eating 1500 calories/day.

Most often I eat very healthy foods, but sometimes I give in to fast food or otherwise diet no-no foods - HOWEVER - I never go over my 1500.

Is one calorie the same as another?  I have read people post that "To your body, the calories you get from a donut count just the same as the calories you'd get from two fruits or a bunch of broccoli, as long as you stay within your amount of calories that you should have a day."

I know this may not ideally be "healthy" but from a weight loss perspective vs a nutritional perspective - can one still lose weight this way?

You can, but I think eventually the extra carbs and sugar would catch up with you. Having fast food every once in a while really isn't so bad for you. Just make sure you make healthy choices (check the place's website for nutrition info) and try to work it into your daily calorie limit.
Yes and no.  Overall, your calories add up whether they are from a carrot or donut.  The problem is that eating one donut loads up your calories for that day and doesn't leave room for other foods that will provide you with nutrients.  Another thing you need to look at is fat content, which does make a difference in weight gain.  Your calories from fat shouldn't be more than 30 percent of your total calories.  If you eat 1500 calories per day and 1499 of them are from fat, you're not going to lose weight.
