2450 calories
Today I ate 2450 calories I really didn't think I ate that much at all I had a kelloggs protein shake in the morning then at 10 am i had a banana and light yogurt, then for lunch I ate a oxtails and rice with cabbage I also had corn bread then I ate a smart ones ice cream and for dinner I had two tacos for dinner I USUALLY add all my calories up during the day but I just kept think this is low in calories so I should be good but to my surprise I ate way over my allowance I am stuck at weight loss point after loosing 13 pounds gaining two back I really just want to say **** it but then I know next year around this time I will be made at myself because 11 pounds a month for a year is a big deal but for some reason I can only push my self to exercise 2 days out the week I'm so frustrated with myself because I know I can do it I just dont know what to do?
lluva;
Oops! I know how you feel. Just wanted to say. That corn bread was probably the most calories of any one of the other things you had. I love corn bread, but pretty much avoid it. Unless It's late in the day, and I have left some calories for it. Don't worry. 1 day won't do any real damage. You would have to eat about another 2,500 calories on top of the 2,450 to really gain a pound.
G
So where did the calories come from? the portions? Or the tacos? The stuff on the tacos?
Sometimes it is good to eat and then when you see the calories you remember, and the next time you can better estimate.
Like genowg said, you would still need a lot more to be gaining weight.
What is your default burn meter? Somewhere around 1900-2100 ? how many extra calories did you *really* eat? If its only a couple hundred, dont sweat it, learn from it, and move on :)
Lluva,
That is the really good thing about the food log. You can see your mistakes and avoid it tomorrow (today). Aside fromt he cornbread, did you have butter on the bread? I'm not familiar with oxtail but it may be a fatty meat. The food log and analysis should show you where the most of your calories are.
Don't worry about it. It's behind you now. You KNOW you didn't eat 7000 calories over so your weight gain is most likely more water weight than anything else. It will come right back off. There was probably a good bit of salt in that bread and veggies. Sometimes it's the sodium in the food that effects the scale the most.
Tacos definitely are FULL of salt. The taco shells are high cal and fat. When I eat tacos I have to leave the shells off. If you didn't make the taco filling yourself, if you had cheese on the tacos...all that adds up before you know it. Most taco shells are tortillas Are fried to put them into that nice cup-shape.
Anyway, it's over. Start again today. That weight will fall right back off.
NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER SURRENDER
Lluva,
Just a suggestion. Try planning out what you are going to eat for the day ahead of time when you can. You can type them into the food log and see what the calories will be and them delete them out if you don't eat them or change it.
Then, if you don't like what you see, you can make some changes like:
Dump the tacos out of the shells, or decrease the amount of rice, or eat only half the cornbread or eat half the banana or leave the cheese off the taco, or eat only one taco or or or....you can make choices ahead of time if you do some planning. I realize that isn't always possible, but it's just a suggestion.
yea well thanks guys the thing is I know I wont gain a pound from this but its just not helping me with loosing the weight yea i got most of the calories from the meat of the taco because i had wheat tortillas and low fat sour cream but to much meat from not measuring it I guess I have to start that you know I start the day off right all the time its just at night what gets to me this morning I'm starting over I had special k cereal 1 cup and 1/2 cup of 2% milk hope my after noon is much better.
When I make tacos, I do the same thing every time... eat a giant salad, drink a bunch of water, and eat 1 taco only if I immediately want another one.... take some water to the PC log all my dinner calories and then I never want another because a)calories and b) I realize I am full. I also am OCD about measuring everything, so I would measure the meat out also - kitchen scales (non digital) are very cheap and very useful.
Night was/is always my worst time. But i'm slowly getting better and I didn't think I would. I would wake up at 6am, and not eat anything until the late afternoon, then eat dinner after my kids went to bed and just...keep...eating...! Now I usually have a giant salad at a respectable dinner time with whatever else i am having... and when I started to feel hungry later, just start, i'll have a small snack which fills me back up completely until bed time. So I might have a lot of food at dinner around 7, because of the salad, a snack at 9, and bed around 11 if I can swing it. After midnight I refuse to eat anything, cause it goes on the next days log and idk what that day will hold and I dont want to look back at my calories, having gone over and be like, damnit! its because I had 200 calories at 1 am!!
I start my calories small in the morning, around 200, around 350 for lunch, and then 500 or so for dinner so I'm still taking like 50% of my calories in the evening, but i'm staying within my calories goals, feeling full at night, and rarely freak out and consume everything in the entire house and then sleep.
lluva- I agree with everyone else, consider it a good lesson and get back on the horse! That having been said you did have some positives for the day: you were able to combat your negative "give it all up" thinking with a positive motivating thought instead. Sometimes it is the little things that matter the most! Keep at it and keep talking to us - we will all make it together!
KDH- I can't face food when I first get up - so breakfast rarely, if ever, happens for me. This naturally allows me more calories for later in the day - I also eat a smaller lunch 400 - 500 calories and then have a bunch to use for dinner and if I get hungry later in the evening a snack that I actually feel like I have eaten.
Sunni
yea thats exactly what i did today was start over and not worry about the little things I actually got up and went to my school and exercised why not it's free and they have plenty of machines there instead of being lazy sitting around watching tv all day but I was good with the food I really just want to keep losing or at least not gain any weight back
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
