Calories in homemade Salsas?

Quote  |  Reply

I have a friend who sells his own homemade salsas, they are delicious, go great on top of just about anything (chips, salads, chicken breast, pasta...)

The ones listed on CC dont seem to match exactly so how many cals would you guestimate are in these varieties (no sugar/salt added):

Roasted tomato/red peppers/garlic

Sweet cherries/dark lager/chili pepper

Pineapple/jalepeno

Have you used the recipes analyzer? Ask your friend for a rough version of his recipes, and you can get a good idea.

Does anyone have any good homemade recipes for salsa? I've always wanted to make it.

Thanks, I wasnt aware of that feature.  Will give it a go.

I would say 10-15 cals for 2 tbsp of all vegetable salsas (no corn or beans) and 20-30 cals per 2 tbsp for fruited salsa. If there is corn or beans I would say 20 cals per 2 tbsp. I eat a lot of salsa and that seems to be pretty accurate but of course your friend may be hiding ingredients like oil which would up those cals. I just had friends that brought salsa to a party and told me it called for lots of italian dressing...I could actually see the oil in some light.
