2000 calories too little?

I am just getting back on my diet the last 11 days.   It has been going very well.

The last 4-5 days however, I have been feeling very hungry.  I have stuck to the 2000 calories by speading my meals out, but it still has been hard.

I walk 30-60 minutes per day at a fairly brisk pace.  The rest of the day is pretty inactive.

I feel like I won't keep losing weight if I increase my calories, but I also feel like my body is telling me I need more.

In my opinion you just need to give yourself more time to get used to 2000 calories and eating less. For me it was hard for the first 2 weeks, then i just got used to eating less.

What kinds of foods are you eating?  2000 calories, mostly from fresh veggies, is going to be a lot more filling than 2000 calories of, say, Pizza Hut.

The other thing you can try doing is to eat a bit more protein at each meal/snack.  It really seems to curb hunger.

I would say your calorie intake would put you at about a 700 calorie deficit, so you could eat a bit more and still lose weight.  You might try aiming for a 300-500 calorie deficit instead.  I don't do well hungry, so I just try to eat the best I can and as long as it is below my burn rate I say I did well.

Unfortunatly, i am not eating a lot of veggies.  Not a big fan.  I do eat some fruit.

I eat a lot of pasta, deli meat, and chicken.  Too many carbs I am guessing.

I really need to start doing a more detailed log, instead of just calories.

I know if I consume a lot of carbs I seem to be hungry more often.  I have a handful of veggies or a low carb fiber bar and a huge glass of water and it curbs the hunger with only 130 calories consumed.  I only allow myself two slices of bread a day, and only whole grains.  I cant even have pasta or ptatoes or I feel like I could eat the entire fridge!

Obviously that is just my body; yours could be different, but you might try to cut some carbs.  Another thing I have discovered - the more veggies you eat, the more appetizing they become!!!  Some great short cuts are to buy them pre cut, so all you have to do is steam them and eat!

Good luck and I hope the hungries go away soon!  It sucks to be hungry!

If you've been logging foods into Calorie Count, you can hit the analysis tab and it will give you a breakdown of carbs, fat, protein, sodium, fiber, etc.  I don't remember the exact proportions of what you should be having, but it was something along the lines of 20% fat, 30% protein, and 50% carbs - so carbs (fruits, veggies, and breads) aren't bad.

And of course, I have to tell you that you need those fruits and veggies - but do the best you can there - if you could find a way to "hide" them, like shred carrots and cook them in with your sphagetti sauce, it might give a little boost.

For me, switching to whole wheat pasta and bread seemed to make it more filling.  Deli meat is okay, but pretty processed and high in sodium.  Probably "whole" meat will satisfy you more, especially if by "deli meat" you mean stuff like baloney.

Eggs are an awesome snack or meal option, milk and yogurt have a goodly amount of protein as well.
