how many calories is pizza???
i'm not one to make my own pizza, so when i eat pizza, it's usually at a pizzeria, and when i type "pizza" into the food log search, a bunch of stuff comes up:
- B Pizza - With Cheese
- B Pizza - With Pepperoni
- B Pizza - With Cheese, Meat, And Vegetables
- C- (Marco's Pizza) Cheese - Pizza is based on one slice of a large 14"
and so on...
my question is this: #1 (Pizza - With Cheese) says that one slice is 140 calories...but is that accurate? it looks like (from the drop down box in the serving size) that's based on a slice from a 12" pizza...but #4 (Marco's Pizza with Cheese) is 251 for one slice based on a slice from a 14" pizza (as you can see above)...does the 2 extra inches really make that much of a difference? a 111 calorie difference??? btw, i've never been to or heard of a Marco's Pizza, so I don't know what their pizza is like..? am i choosing the wrong number(s) from the list provided? or does anyone know approximately how many calories a slice a pizza from a pizzeria is?
any info would be appreciated, thanks :)

Maybe Marco's Pizza is like Sbarro? If it is then its because they cut the entire pizza into four slices instead of eight making each "slice" two slices of normal pizza.
oh geez, those are big slices! lol...
but i don't know if it's like Sbarro...i know that Sbarro is included in the list provided when i search pizza and for once slice it's 459 calories! so that does kinda make sense with what you're saying -> 2 slices of pizza = 1 slice at Sbarro...so maybe 251 calories is accurate..? maybe i should just google it lol...
if i dont know the exact caloric value, i just compare it to other foods. like, if the pizzaria pizza is kinda like sbarro pizza, just say that's what it is. if it really reminds you of a frozen pizza you can find the caloric value for, say it's that.
Sadly it depends on how its made. There are way too many variables to guess. If I were you I'd go into your fav pizzaria and ask if they have nutritional information, you may have to talk to the owner/manager to get this. If it's a national chain like pizza hut you can usually find the nutritional info on their websites.
My first job was at Pizza Hut (for only 3 months...ha ha ha). Anyways in the time I worked there I saw how the pizza was made. They LOAD the grease and oil into those pans to make sure those pizzas come out of the pans easily. Its disgusting...REALLY. Also depending on your toppings there is no way of knowing unless the company has run the numbers for you.
I make a healthier at-home version with motz or a white "italian" blend instead of yellow or mixed white and yellow cheeses. I've found that generally, white cheese is better for you than yellow cheese. I use canadian bacon, because it is much healthier than sausage or pepperoni. And I load it up with all sorts of veggies. Sprinkle with italian seasoning pop it into the oven. If you use a dough follow the cooking directions. If you use french bread or pitas just cook until edges brown and cheese melts. I usually set the oven to about 400 degrees and toast the canadian bacon and any onion or peppers that I might use, prior to cooking it all together.
