900 calories (a rant)

..over maintenance.

My friend got back from New Zealand, so a bunch of us got together to see her again.  She was away during my birthday, so when she arrived, she also had a home made carrot cake with cream cheese icing for me.  I had already eaten, and had been doing so well with resisting the tostitos and lays, which I really cannot eat in moderation.  Obviously I had to eat some of the cake, it was, after all, made specifically for me.  Obviously, since we were a group of teenagers, my friend decided it would be more efficient to give everyone a fork instead of dirtying plates.  Obviously this made portion control very difficult.  Obviously, once I started, I couldn't stop, because I have a horrible "all or nothing" attitude I'm trying to fix.  Obviously, after I couldn't stomach any more cake, i moved on to the chips.

Obviously, I haven't quite mastered my eating habits quite as much as I thought I had.

It wasn't an all out binge, I was really only minorly out of control, and was able to regain control after a certain point and stop myself.  I was also smart enough not to take the rest of the cake home with me, because I knew once I was alone with it and didn't have to worry about grossing my friends out with the sheer amount that I can eat in a small eriod of time without tasting it.

Anyways, I just finished logging the calories for all of this, and it came out about 900 calories above maintenance...ugh, this is the third time in a row that I've gone considerably over my calories on the first day after a weekend, although the other two were binges and I don't think this was.  Oddly enough, I consumed fewer calories while binging.  Who knew?

Sorry this is so long and repetetive, I'm just pretty dissapointed in myself right now...I really thought I had gained some control...

Hey, I feel for you.  I am the same way.  As soon as I think I'm doing really well somebody will bring something home or sugest something and all my will power goes out the window.  I guess the key is to just focus and don't completely give up.  Just because you have a few mishaps won't ruin the big picture.  Just try again tomorrow and hopefully eventually we will have the hang of this "in moderation" thing.  It's my biggest problem right now too.  Good luck and don't beat yourself up.

hey, it happens to the best of us.  it takes a good 2-3 months to make or break a habit, and even then sometimes things come up and you don't stick to your plan.  next time you'll remember how this made you feel and hopefully you won't make the same mistake twice.  good luck!!!
