yes, i'm neurotic like that. it was the only way i could think of to know how much i ate! sometimes i wish i had a pocket digital scale that would fit in my purse.

You don't need a digital scale in your pocket... that would be pretty silly.   Instead, why not practise 'eye-balling' amounts of various foods?  Take your kitchen scales and a plate.  Place what you think is 4oz of something on the plate.  Then weigh it and see how close you got.  With practice you'll be able to dispense with the 'Rain-Man' behaviour...

You probably had somewhere around 80g beans.
Here is what I was able to find. Not for one bean, but some more options:

1 ounce: 48 calories

I tablespoon: 18 calories

100 grams:173 calories

These are for cooked and boiled without salt, I dunno what the salt adds. When I can't find something on here, I often check on NutrionData.com. It's also free to sign-up and has expanded nutritional information.

Okay... just for you, I busted out some dry roasted soybeans and counted out how many fit into a tablespoon- it was approximately 40 dry roasted soybeans. Don't know about non-roasted ones, but yeah.

Another way would be to measure with a cup. :) Lol, counting calories and measuring everything is one thing. Counting individual beans is another.
