Calories in Splenda???
Original Post by bre54321:
It's 4 calories per pack.
Not enough to matter. Stirring that sugar in your tea or blinking 200 times took care of it. Dont worry about it.

But if she's using 20 packs a day - that's an extra 80 calories she's not accounting for.
I can tell you her problem as soon as I read the post. Shes only eating 1200 calories a day and probably underestimating because shes so afraid to go over shes coming on to find the calories in splenda. I wish people wouldn't follow everything CC says, I'm sorry, 1200 being the "bare minimum" is crap. If you move for over an hour a day, 1400+ is bare minimum, not this 1200 anorexic crap.My opinion.
yes, splenda does have 4 calories per packet.
however, even if you ate 200 packets of splenda, those calories wouldn't count.
Although sucralose is made from a process that begins with sugar, the body does not recognize it as sugar or a carbohydrate. It is not metabolized by the body for energy, so it is calorie-free.
The vast majority of sucralose is not absorbed and passes through the body unchanged. Some sucralose is passively absorbed but is not broken down for energy, so it has no calories. The small amount of sucralose that is absorbed passes very quickly through the body and is excreted in the urine. There is no accumulation of sucralose in the body.
Studies show that sucralose has no effect on the gastrointestinal (GI) system, does not accumulate in the body, and is excreted quickly. Sucralose is largely unabsorbed (in humans, about 85% is unabsorbed), and is excreted in the feces unchanged. The small amount that is absorbed is distributed to essentially all tissues and is excreted relatively rapidly, almost entirely as unchanged sucralose, in the urine.
most of these paragraphs sort of say the same thing, but you get it :)
