Calories Taken in vs. Burned?

Quote  |  Reply

This site recommends I have a calorie intake of 1750...Ok, got it. Now the Burn meter says the goal is 2650? If I eat 1750 and I burn 2650 does this mean I will have a negative intake of calories? It seems as if I can eat 4, 400 calories and then burn off 2650 it will put me at 1750, but I bet it does not work that way? Does it? Anybody?

Thank you,

Confused

In order to loose one pound of weight, you have to have a negative calorie intake of 3500 calories.  Obviousely it's not healthy to do this in a short peiod, that's why it's recomended not to lose more than one pound per week.

All of the recomendations for weight loss that I have found say that you should burn 500 more calories then you eat every day to meet this goal.

I imagine the recomendation of eating 1750 calories while buring 2650 per day is just the amount it would take for you to lose 2 pounds per week - which is a really fast rate.

You don't want 1750 calories possitive, just 1750 total intake.

Your BURN meter is calculating off of your age, height, gender and activity level. That's your average burn each day.

So, it's saying if you eat 1750, and burn 2650, you have a deficit of 900 calories each day. At that rate, that's almost a weight loss of 2 lbs per week. (3500 calories = 1 lb; so 900 x 7(days/week) = 6300 deficit for the week; that's just 700 short of 2 lbs worth of calories).

Now, if you exercise any of those days, you'll need to eat more that day to ensure your deficit is not greater than 1000 calories.

There's a lot of great forums, library info on this topic too. Try perusing the site and you'll find a whole wealth of knowledge.

Good luck!
