I have been at 1200 calories a day for 2 weeks with no results?
Hi I am new to cc, and think that I am doing something wrong? I am 5'10" 190lbs and told by cc that I should eat 1800 cal a day well im eating on most days just under 1200 and still no drop? Along with good eating my worst drink in a month has been Gatorade. I am doing a little cardio a few times a week about 25-40 min at a time (running, boxing, tennis, basketball). Why in the world is the scale not budging? Help me oh great CC members.
You're not eating enough. If CC has told you that you need to eat 1800 to lose weight, eat that much. If CC has told you to eat 1800 to maintain, eat maximum 500 calories less than this - so at least 1300 calories. You'll see better results that last with a better diet.
Yeah, that's definitely not enough. You need to find the happy medium. Obviously you can't each too much, but nor too little. Your body will freak out on you. Believe it or not, you can gain weight by not eating enough, basically your body thinks you're starving it, so it begins to hold on to fat, therefore you lose less, or none at all. You begin to lose muscle, and you don't want to lose that! I would highly recommend nothing under 1500, but even more than that is best.
What have you been eating 1200 calories of?
Also, when you start working out you may gain weight, because muscle weighs more than fat. If you are loosing weight in a healthy manner, you may stay at the same weight for a while because of the gaining of muscle. The number on the scale can be meaningless sometimes. If you want to track progress more efficiently you should try measuring yourself once a week, it may make all of your hard work more apparent. And, it is really only healthy to lose 2 pounds per week, it may mean you are actually making life changes, so it's more likely that you will keep the weight off in the long run.
Well, I started my "diet" life style change with 1200 calories per day at first, and that was a year ago. I did well- losing over 46 pounds before coming to CC. I hit a 4 month plateau, and it took uping my calories, protein, and watching my carbs, sugar, and fat intakes to break this.
When I rejoined CC, the calorie intake for me was 1800 as well. I cut that down in the middle. Trying to go for 1400-1600 perday. I've even hit around 1700. Sometimes I've lost 2 pounds, and there are times when I've lost 1. There are weeks when I lose nothing at all in pounds, but I can always use my measurements to see where I am now.
My advice to you is... Up your calories, and drink more water. Find a good workout that you'll enjoy doing.
Someone is going to give you the help you need to get the scales moving.
I just wanted to share my advice.
ren01....
I have been eating on most days
b - cheerios
l - subway 6 inch turkey on wheat (sometimes baked lays)
s - pure protein bar
d - grilled chicken/fish, peas, spinach
I guess that is a typical day for me. I might also have an apple in between if im starving. If I sub anything it is for dinner ill have tunafish straight from the can. I am drinking only water with an occasional Gatorade.
Thanks to all of you thus far with responding. If anyone has suggestions please im all ears!
I've always heart that eating bigger lunches is better than eating larger dinners. Maybe you want to switch your lunch and dinner?
