How many calories would you have to go over your limit to see a significant weight gain? Like, if you eat 1400 one day, how many calories the next day would make you gain weight? 1500? 1600?

Angel,

It's difficult to give precise advice without knowing the specifics of your situation.I would steer you towards the Calorie Target application under the Tool tab of this web-page. That should help you zero-in on intake goals.

As I understand it, there are 3500 calories in one pound of fat. So generally speaking, if you created a 500 calorie deficit each day (took in 500 less than what you burn) you could expect to lose a pound a week (7x500=3500).

I would encourage you to figure out a healthy diet and healthy exercise routine that will help you reach your individual goals. Good luck!

As ashton said, it takes 3500 calories to make a pound of fat. So in order to gain a pound, you'd have to consume 3500 calories more than you burn.

so if i burned, like, 300, i'd need to eat 3800? oh wow so it would take a major binge for a big problem...

You burn a lot more than 300 in a day. Take a look at the tools - you'll see one called "burn meter" - put in your stats and figure out how much you burn all day, not just when you exercise.

edit: looking at your profile, I see you are 15. Bear in mind that the tools on CC+ are not intended for children or teens. At 15 you are still growing, and need more calories than an adult.
