It's only 11:00 and I have already consumed more than 1/2 of my daily calories. I can't work out because I'm required to take the day off...Any suggestions on how to make it through the rest of the day?

Don't beat yourself up because that might make you want to eat more. Unfortunately, I have done the same thing... Typically, it was out of boredom.

Here's 2 ideas that work for me:

1) Distract yourself with something else (take a walk, do a service project, help a client, etc)

2) If you need additional food, try to eat foods with high water content (vegetables and fruits). Items with a lot of crunch, texture and low in calories - like cucumbers, carrots, red bell peppers.

Take care.

Don't feel too bad about it. If you absolutely cannot exercise today, make up for it tomorrow. Your body doesn't take all those extra calories at midnight and immediately turn them into fat. As long as you are averaging a calorie deficit, you're okay. That doesn't mean go home and eat a cake though. Make a salad for dinner. That's a lot of food, but very few calories.

I'm with fatfreedom on this... generally when I have really bad mornings (like the bagel with extra cream cheese), I find myself getting really creative with the rest of my daily calorie budget... it's during these times that I actually find some really great snack/meal ideas... maybe just do some surfing on the calorie search engine and see what you can eat... if you are looking for something for dinner, I can suggest 3oz tuna (120 cals) with 4 tbsp relish (80 cals) and no mayo... it's actually not that bad for you and fills you up because it has loads of protein... or a tilapia filet, which has anywhere from 90-200 cals depending on the size of the filet... put that with a side salad/ veggie and you are set... good luck... just remember, this is only one day... learn from your mistakes and you'll be okay...

Try making a veggie soup with a crap load of veggies - broth, green beans, carrots, celery, green pepper, stewed tomatoes with seasoning - it takes about 3 hours to cook the veggies, but there's practically no calories in it and it's pretty filling with all the fiber.

Chew on a sugar free stick of gum. When it gets old, spit it out and chew on a new piece.

Drink water. Chew gum. Make sure you eat well for the rest of the day so that you meet all your nuritional needs.

Forgive yourself and try again tomorrow. It's not a big deal.

I am with Jac and Sybil on this one.  Whatever your eating preferences are you are sure to be satisfied with a soup or a salad.

I tend to feel satisfied with soups especially if i have no meat.  If you can't devote a few hours to making soup, simply stop by the grocery store and get one of the Progresso Light soups (or other light soup).

Then, drink tons of water and tea.  That's it.  Sure, you can just "average" your calories out.  While that might work for some people, I have found it does not work for me.  There will ALWAYS be a reason to over eat or consume calorie dense foods.

Lots of water and raw veggies. Have a salad with 1-2 slices of turkey breast meat torn up in it. And maybe just make today a maintainence day? No need to starve yourself from the a.m. on, you may end up binging later today just because you'll be hungry. Better to maintain!

I agree with jac328. It's not the end of the world if you have a bad day here and there. It's just important that in general you follow the calorie rules.
