1500 cals today ALREADY!
This is my first forum post, mostly because I'm feeling absolutely disgusting after the lunch I just ate (Bacon cheddar burger & fries from DQ). The burger alone has about 700 calories. I'm PMSing and eating everything in site this week. Anyone else feeling like this? Normally I'm very good about choosing a lunch with low cals (subway, salads etc) but not today... ![]()
Don't worry! Always get back on the horse if you fall. Today before dinner (which should just be a very light salad), exercise for an hour at the gym! You should burn a lot and that would definitely help! :)
Yeah, right now I feel super bloated. :(
I have to go to the beach in less than two weeks...and i'm about 6 pounds away from my goal weight!!!!! What am I going to do?
*sigh* Losing weight is so hard.
PMSing is wonderful isn't it? I go through that too. There are some times I get up to around 3500 calories in one day (on bad PMSing days). Just work on being better the next couple days and it will work itself out. You will probably be up on the scale though becouse of the salt in there but that too will pass so don't worry about that.
My goal is to lose about 20-25 lbs. I'm 160 currently I have the WORST self control EVER though. Vacation in 3 weeks...def won't be showing any loss after days like today.
It wouldn't be reasonable to expect a 20-25 drop in 3 weeks any way. Just forget about it and move on.
In fact, assuming you eat well the rest of the day, you won't gain any weight at all, and you may even still lose.
You may feel a bit bloated because of the high sodium in your meal, but don't stress over it; It's not fat, just water being retained. Try drinking plenty of water tomorrow.
One meal CANNOT make you gain weight in a permanent sort of way so don't worry. As long as today isnt' a trend, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Sure, it might cause a temporary spike in weight and bloat you a bit, but just eat healthy like usual and it will quickly even out. I find that people get too worked up over one meal. As long as it isn't a trend or habit, you can eat pretty much anything as a treat. Assuming you go back to a healthy diet and regular exercise, it won't affect you in the slightest.
Exercise is the hardest thing to overcome. I live over an hour away from work and spending a total of 3 hours on the road EVERY day is exhausting. Flat Belly Diet book has some good daily walking/running exercises w/times, speeds etc. I may start following one of those.
As you can probably tell I'm fairly new at this calorie count thing. Im also thinking about buying a fludity bar. I danced for almost half my life. At one point I quit and came back within a year and saw drastic improvements in my body...I'm thinking its worth a shot.
I've felt like you before. It was after eating a McDonalds Smarties McFlurry. It was like 630 calories. And I had it for dessert after a big family dinner.
But you should have a light dinner and excersize abit. Just like the others say. And tomorrow will be a new day. So you can make better choices.
*Wow, I wish I can use this advice for myself sometimes :(
The same thing happens to me when I'm PMSing. I'm normally neutral towards sweet foods, but when the time comes, I eat quite a bit (my PMS days probably average around 3500 cals). But since that only lasts 2-3 days, it never has any significant effect on my weight.
Relax, enjoy the food, blame it on the PMS, and get back on track as soon as it's over. It's not a big deal. :)
Hey Katie,
I'm also around 160, I just joined this website today, and i've been trying to lose weight for the past 2 months. (my goal is 130 as well) I unfortunately, haven't made any progress. I swam all my life, so swimming to me isnt really a workout. (unless I do it everyday, for over 3 hours). So i moved on to running, and elliptical work. I like doing an hour plus of cardio a day.
I'm also a really picky eater, so me eating is really hard. I like my fruits and vegs, but lunch kills me. Any suggestions anyone?
Katie - I commute 3 hours a day too for work so I know how hard it is to get exercise in. I joined a gym by the office and run out at lunch time or depending on the day go after work. Maybe this is something to consider? Its definitely not the most ideal situation - a bit rushed at lunch. But I figure 40 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical is better than nothing!
Check under Recipes for "Cleansing Vegetable Soup"; Add simple portions of protein, (i.e. grilled chicken breast) to your meal plan for the day; Cut out the junk in between; The recipe will give you a weeks worth of soup... and you'll get a roaring start on your diet.
Just went back to reread some of these posts after a few weeks. I am still struggling, this time with food AND exercise. I went on vacation 2 weeks ago and just havent' been able to get back into the swing of things. Breakfast and dinner don't seem so bad, but lunch is killing me with calories!!!!!
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
