if it came on easy it should come off easy to ? right?
i went through a kinda tough time and well in november of 07 i was at home with four kids .......and gas prices where going up so i couldnt go anywhere and the weather was horrible so i just stayed in the house and ate with the boys( read my bio and it explains) i gained like 25lbs in 4 mnths and have maintained that. It came on quite easily so shouldnt it come off easier than the weight thats crept up over 2 years?
i think that this is a very important question that maybe alot of us deal with .....anyone?
I don't think how quickly you put it on has anything to do with how quickly you can take it off. fat is fat.
This is just my opinion, I have no facts to back it up or anything but! I think weight comes off extremely slow. It stinks, but in the long run that means it is more than likely going to stay off unlike fad diets where the weight comes off quickly. It seems like its easier to lose weight at first and the closer you get to your goal the harder it gets, your body will seem to fight you every step of the way for some reason. This is just what I think and what I have gathered from reading things.
It doesn't matter how long it took to gain it, as the person above me said its still fat
my paersonal trainer said that the 20 -25 pounds would go fast but i wasnt sure
I wish that were true! If you think about it, it's not. Think about what it took to gain that weight and how easy it is to just eat and eat and eat while exercising takes a lot more effort.
I always feel that it takes longer to take off than to put on the pounds.
Of course that could be because it's easier and more fun to eat all the goodies and not exercise. Time just flies when you're having fun.
Losing takes more effort ...
Yes. I think the easier it comes on the easier it comes off. I have lost 100 pounds and my first 50 pounds were actually quite easy to lose because I gained them very quickly, but now that I've lost a lot it has become harder because I'm getting down to the fat that has been there for ages that took longer to get. Also because I am getting smaller, I'm sure. So my body uses less energy to run itself therefore resulting in slower weightloss. But I really do agree that the fast weight gain can come off faster. In my opinion.
You know its real easy to mess up the kitchen, or the living room. Takes a couple of kids no time flat to totally distroy a room. But, cleaning it up is always a pain. Same with weight gain. I use to say if I wanted to lose weight all I needed to do was get pregnate. That was true. I would get pregnate at 140 and after the baby was born I would weigh 120. It was great. Great until my health suffered from having 6 kids. Great until I was told not to have anymore or I would die.
Then it wasn't so great. Now Im up to 193 lbs. I put it on easy. Over the last 6 years it snuck up on me. Until one day even my fat jeans wouldn't fit and I couldn't figure out why. Is it coming off easy? No. An hour of belly dancing every week day combined with a mile and a half walk that includes a hill that has a 70% incline and goes for 1/8 of a mile, on the weekends. And its not the only hill, just the biggest. No more than 1500 calories a day. I gave up my soda for lipton diet white tea. I went from 193.2 down to 190.6 but there wasn't much point. My cycle will start in another couple of days so Im back up to 193 even though I didn't cheat on my diet.
I hope if I stick to it through that time of the month it will be like having a baby and once its over Ill be at like 187 or something but Im not holding my breath. My real problem is that my wonderful handsome supportive nimrod of a husband that needs to lose twice as much weight as I do has already lost as much weight as I have lost and gained back put together. But, hey thats okay, because the more he loses, the better off he is and the more likely he is to not die of heart desease before he is 60. Which is always a good thing for me.

I've lost 37 pounds so far and the first 30 came off fairly easy. But these last 7 have been a pain in the you know what to lose. Not to even mention I have another 16 I want to lose (at least). It could be that at first its all motivating to see the scale going down and working out isn't as much of a "pain". But for me as of lately I think I have just started to burn out some. I'm hanging in there though and I know if I can do it, you surely can too! Sorry, I think I misunderstood your question the first time I replied. I didn't exactly get what you were trying to ask.
My opinion is that it is easier to take off weight that was put on quickly AND easier to take off weight that was put on recently. I've read that it takes 1/3 the time to take off weight than it takes to put on.
- You know the exact cause of the weight gain so you can reverse the cause which helps a lot.
- You're body hasn't had a lot of time to get used to your new weight.
- You haven't had a lot of time to get used to your new (less good) weight, diet and exercise habits.
Regardless of whether it's actually easier - it doesn't matter. You can do it!!! (And you can get that 2 yr stuff too) Congratulations on stopping your weight gain in it's tracks and maintaining.
