$50 came out of my midsection today

Don't you hate it when you pay for something and lose it, or brake it accidentally? This is what happened to me today....

I got my bellybutton pierced 2 years ago. Over the past few months I have noticed that the skin that overlapped the piercing had been getting smaller and smaller, I don't really know why. Today, I was sitting down at my desk in my bedroom, and decided that I wanted to get changed into my pajamas. Why I was in such a rush, I can't even explain to myself. But, I started pulling my pants down as I was getting up out of chair, and the top of my pants were right above my piercing (as my pants usually are when I'm sitting). I pulled them down without thinking about my piercing, and RIP! out it came. ****! Not only did it hurt, but that thing cost me like 50 bucks! GGRRRRR!!!

If only I waited until I was already standing to undress. Then I would have adjusted my pants first as I usually do. man, not thinking cost me 50 dollars today.

The loss could have been avoided! Anyone else lost "investments" that could have been avoided? Or just any other story about losing money/something. Share your stories of disappoint! lol!

aw thats just no fun!

i recently bought a nice new pair of high heeled shoes i wanted to wear this summer (they were very expensive).
I had them in the shoe box in a pastic bag, and went grocery shopping afterwards. When i got home, I realized I didn't have my bag with my shoes in it! I must have left it in the shopping cart. When I went back, I couldn't find them! :(
Ow, ow, eeek, owwwww! That must have hurt!

My dog has been my biggest reason for "loosing" things....she's chewed up shoes (a few hundred $ worth), computer and phone chargers, clothes (jeans, dresses, skirts, pj's, and pants), my kitchen table....I could go on and on :p
Twenty years ago right when my father died, my car was in the shop and I had to go pick it up.  I got $200 cash from the bank, stopped to go buy cigarettes and drove off, realizing I'd left the cash envelope in the store.  I returned but the envelope was gone.

I remember not even responding to it, returning to get another $200 and then off to pick up my car.  Looking back I know I was in shock with my dad's passing and things in general were pretty robotic at that time.

On the otherhand, Im extremely forgetful and lose things easily so over the years Ive naturally grown to be unphased by losing things even of value. The repetition of it made it less of an issue as it became normal for me.
just for future knowledge I have had many piercings and have experienced migration with most of them...  it sounds like your piercing had migrated...  migration is the bodies natural defense from foreign objects (it does it with sliver, shrapnel ect)... especially if you have a slight sensitivity to surgical steel (most good quality body jewelry is made from this).  The body will reject the piercing and start *slowly* pushing the jewelry toward the surface until only a thin piece of flesh covers the bar... solution.. sometimes getting repierced under the scar tissue from the previous piercing will prevent migration or/and using a metal like titanium or niobium which generally is less reactive... but that being said some peoples bodies are just better at forcing out foreign objects and living an unpierced life is the only alternative..

Omg mine too!!! i have a cocker spaniel and he chews everything up! my shoes, underwear(which is the most annoying), the christmas tree wires, my iron cord, anything in the trash, soda cartons, paper, pencils....etc etc its sooo annoying!

I had these great shoes from bebe. They were so cute... perfect summer sandals! I wore them ONCE and they disappeared into oblivion! I have no idea if I took them somewhere and left them or what! So sad :'(

Sorry about the belly ring! That had to HURT... feeling your pain eek

During my clinicals I ordered a lab coat.  Even though I'd just lost my job, barely had enough money to buy groceries or pay the rent, my fiance knew how much this meant to me and let me get a full priced, flattering lab coat.  We had to spend two weeks riding our bikes everywhere or walking 'cause we couldn't afford gas money, but I had this beautiful crisp lab coat.  I immediately hung it up in the closet with a bag over it until my clinical rotation came.

And every day for those three weeks I walked into that hospital with pride.  Except the day someone accused me of being a trick-or-treater and tried to escort me back to the pediatrics ward.  I love that lab coat and to this day it's still hanging up in the closet with a bag over it, waiting until I get my dream job as a phlebotomist.

I was informed I'll be scheduling an interview within the next two weeks or so and the first thing I did was pull that lab coat out of the closet to try it on.

Bugger doesn't fit anymore.  It hangs off my shoulders, the sleeves are too long, I can wrap the damned thing around me twice.

I'm stoked as hell that if I get the job I'll get a new lab coat, but this one has sentimental values...  And a pink stain on it from where I snorted out fruit punch, laughing with one of the other lab assistants.

Before I had my cat declawed, when he was still a kitten, I had all my new furniture covered with sheets so he wouldn't scratch the hell out of everything.  Of course he made his way under the sheets and ripped into the upholstery.  It was on the side so not extremely noticeable, but I drop-kicked him anyway. Just kidding!! :)

Sometimes life gets really crazy and I don't get a chance to return my library books which pisses me off because I have to pay late fines for books I haven't even had time to read.  It always seems to be the week I take out 15 books too.  Not a huge amount of money but where using the library is supposed to be my cost-effective way to entertain myself this drives me bonkers.

jeez that must have hurt ok hers my story

i bought madden 2005 and was my first time playing it and well it didnt work right so i bought another addition froma  different store and went to return the other one but all i could do was grab a new one not get my cash back so i was stuck with 2 i sold the one for 25 bucks and lost like 40 bucks i was dissapointed as i was 14 i think and didnt have a job yet lol

xostepxo,

I have a cocker spaniel too! And she loves underwear, I've lost way too many pairs (I guess I'm not trainable either...she keeps getting to them somehow).

thanks for that info! that's probably what it was. i didnt even notice it the first year, but now that you mention it, for the past few months it was constantly red and irritated-looking. do you know if theres certain metals that arent usually rejected by the body?

some people have better luck with niobium or titanium or even 14k gold... though I in some parts of my body, like my eyebrow cannot seem to keep anything there without it migrating.

mine is actually my husband's... he got a $300 voucher for a flight for getting bumped off a flight a few months ago.  We were planning to use it for a trip to Boston next month.  When we went to book the tickets, he couldn't find the voucher.  We looked everywhere and couldn't find it.  He finally remembered that he had been keeping it in the back of a notepad that he always used, but when the notepad ran out of paper, he threw the whole thing away, not remembering the voucher was in the back.  Ouch!  :(
