canadians: did you run your 5/10k for Terry Fox?
i did. it's the first time i've run 5k without stopping in...i dunno. maybe ever. every time i started to hurt or feel like stopping, i thought of him running a marathon a day when he knew in his gut that the cancer was back (and when that idea started to fail me, i thought of my mother, who was skinny-fat most of her adult life, then had a massive stroke and can no longer stand, let alone run).
i'm really proud of myself. and now that i've done it once (without dropping dead), i'm going to try to run 5k twice a week until it's time to start running further and/or faster.
I'm not Canadian but way to go! Running 5K without stopping is a huge milestone. Congratulations!
Good on you PG!
I couldn't take part because I had auditions this afternoon, but I did sponsor others accordingly.
Way to go! In terms of increasing mileage (kilometrage?), listen to your body. Increasing distance too fast is a really good recipe for overuse injury. I'd recommend cross-training while your body gets used to the impact. Alternate running with hill walking, cycling, swimming, or something else with lower impact. Congrats on the running :-)
thanks everyone!
CD...um, yeah...you can send that cyber-hug in a generally south-easterly direction...yeah, i'll catch it on its way past...yeah, like that...
damn you, CD. WHY CAN'T I QUIT YOU?!!
