Quote  |  Reply

Hi everybody, first time I see this great site support and this wonderful forum,

I was impressed by the few topics I read and see the great support you are giving each other and wish to be with you and get the same support.

I am on candida diet since 3 weeks (NO GLUTEN, NO DIRY PRODUCT, NO SUGAR, NO YEAST) and the list of NO food is sooooooooooooooo long...

All food which help to gain weight are a NO even fruits!

I was already thin and now loosing more weight because even I am eating well but can not collect calorie and my appetite is normal.

God what to do??? :(

I'm not familiar with this diet, but I am curious as to why you are doing it?  Is it for religious reasons?  Are you allegeric to these things?  If not, and you are not able to eat enough calories to maintain a healthy body, than it doesn't sound like a healthy diet to be doing by choice.

That being said, I assume when you say no sugar, you mean no refined sugar (as it's totally impossible to live while eating no natural sugars, your body needs the carbohydrates for energy).  There are lots of things that fit into this diet.

Fruits and vegetables, for starters, and there are lots of ways you can prepare both of these to make them high calorie, like cooking them with oils (healthy fats, like vegatable and olive oil), eating salads with dressings (again, oils, but there are lots of ways to make higher-cal healthy dressing).  Some vegetables and fruits are naturally high calorie, like potatoes, yams, avocasdos, pretty much anything fatty or starchy (and fats and starches from fruit and veg are good).

Lean proteins are also good; chicken, seafood, fish, etc.  They will be fine for this diet as long as you prepare them in a way that doesn't add anything you 'can't' eat.

Starches like rice, beans, oats (be sure to check that there is no possibility of contact with gluten), split peas...

There are a lot of things that you can be eating.  If you are saying that your appetite is 'normal' but you are not able to eat enough to maintain your weight, are you hungry all the time??  Because you should be...if not, than your appetite is not 'normal'.

Edit:  I see that you 'can't' eat fruits...which is ridiculous, I can't think of why you wouldn't be able to eat fruits, they contain natural sugars that give you energy and tons of vitamins.  Just so you know, tomatoes, bell peppers and cucumber are all fruits.  If it has seeds, it's a fruit.

A candida diet is usually done due to yeast infection.

Personally, we are not a website designed at writing out such a specific diet for you. If your doctor had told you to do this, then you need to ask them, not us.

Hi!

Thnk you for your reply ..

Well I am not choosing to be on this freaky - scarry diet :P since august 2008 I am suffering from few symptoms that no test showed what is wrong with me.

Suddenly I loose my appetite and feel fatigue and low energy, down and nervous in addition of nausea.

It use to happen before my menstrual period and thought it's PMS but once I stopped breastfeeding it starts to come last days of period or sometimes later on.

Doctors drove me crazy with diagnoses, PMS, hormonal imbalance, postpartum anxiety etc... and all tests showed that it's not and even I was prescribed an anti-anxiety pills which killed me, 3 weeks and stop!! NO MORE!!

I went to homeopath 1 month ago and he put me on this diet he think that I am OR having yeast infection (candida overgrowth) or some food llergy, also he gave me some probiotic and enzymes and few herbal capsules to straight up my digestive system.

Honestly speaking that since then I am eating without any older symptoms coming back!

If you search on internet about candida diet you will see that the most restricted food is SUGAR even from fruits because this candida get fed from it.

In addition of all wheat - gluten product, no mushrooms or yam or so..it contains yeast!! yes believe or not...this diet exist :)

OH it's long storry but I am holding myself till this all nightmare will finish and hopefully soon it will.

Thank you again for your reply!

I just notice that didn't reply on one thing, YES my appetite is normal (I don't crave food) but not hungry all the time!! this is my problem that I eat as much as I can which is not enough to maintain weight!

Come on how in this low calory diet it's hard to add calories unless if I will be eating the whole dy lol!

no dear i am not asking for specific diet just wondering what kind of high calory food can i eat (allowed in this diet)

Yikes. A friend of mine had this for over a year... you have my sympathies! Candida is not just your standard yeast infection - it's when the yeast takes over more then your lady parts and gets in you blood, your stomach, everything. You can get it from taking too many antibiotics (they kill off the good bacteria that fights yeast) but you can just have an imbalance naturally. I hope you feel better soon!!!!

Anyway, The Diet: From what I know, you'll need to eat a lot of fish and veggies.  Proteins, oils and veg are going to be your best friends through this. The suggestion my friend was given was to steam them, but if you're trying to gain, then I suggest frying them / baking them with ampleolive and sesame oil. I think you can still eat avocados and nuts, which are good weight gainer foods anyway. Suggested meal plan:

Breakfast: 3-4  eggs scrambled in grapeseed oil with sausage, spinach, peppers, onions, spices.

Lunch: dark meat chicken w/ skin on, big mixed green salad with walnuts, avocado, peppers, whatever suits your fancy that isn't fruit. Lots of olive oil.

Dinner: Ahi Tuna / Salmon or any fatty fish, pan seared in sesame oil with cajun spice, mustard greens or kale cooked with oil and spices (or southern style, with lard/ pork hock), oven roasted carrots and broccoli, whatever veggies you like, with olive oil.

double post

Try making waffles and muffins using buckwheat  and quinoa flours, with ground flax seeds, walnuts and covered in coconut oil. All of those things are tolerated by most people with candida.Eat raw almonds. If you want you can grind them in a processor into almond butter and eat them on rice cakes.

You can also try yams topped with coconut oil and pecans. Rice bran hot cereal, with coconut oil. Also, if you can tolerate brown rice pasta, that can help.

Flax oil can help as well...and use Sea Salt since your cells can get dehydrated, sea salt is good for you as well. Good luck to you

most of the foods that fitnessgirll suggests are great for you! but skip the avocado - it's fruit, and it has sugar. I also suffer from candida once in a while (usually after antibiotics), but probiotics are a great tool to solve that! also, not sure about the no-dairy rule - I would totally recommend probiotic yogurt! read on the net, there have been studies with people who have had yeast infection in their whole body and have gotten rid of it after consuming probiotic yoghurt everyday. for me, in order to avoid candida (been healthy for over 2 years now), I eat yoghurt everyday for breakfast. cheers!

Hi, thank you for your reply, you are right for the YAKI but it is healthy diet but because i don't want to loose weight i am struggeling with it , actually sausages and all prossesed meat are a NO.

I think the best is oilive oil and nuts, most calories they have ...

you see the problem that all kinda of food which makes you gaining weight are a NO in this diet.

however, I don't think I have candida in blood stream but since my naturopath saw me having some troubles sometimes with digestive system so he decided to put me for a while on this diet as a detox for me and let me tell that I can see the benefits!

thank you again..

Recommend combining nutrition and energy medicine to beat Candida (recover your immune system) before you can start eating to regain weight:

Use Three-Lac, Digestinal, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Primal Defense, and the Harmonic Quad 5 with Antenna.  Because the candida diet can accelerate the recovery process, stay on it for the first 3 to 6 months.  After 6 months add the Harmonic Quad with Antenna and gradually experiment with adding different foods to your diet, continue to avoid refined sugar for at least 2 years or longer.

--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- -------

http://www.candidasupport.org/about_story.htm l

"Not only have our Candida problems been eliminated, but we now eat fruit, pasta, cereal, bread, cheese or can have a glass of wine with dinner. No food is taboo anymore (although we still don't go crazy with sugar). But what a joy it was to return to that kind of freedom in eating. Our sleep is deeper, our thinking clearer and we have more energy and get so much more done."

--------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- ----

http://www.candida-albicans-cure.com/coconut- oil.html

"In addition to Virgin Coconut Oil, if you suspect that you have a candida yeast overgrowth, supplement your diet with strong probiotics to balance the flora in your intestinal tract and rebuild your immune system. Traditional fermented foods are one of the best additions you can make to your diet, while eliminating refined sugars and simple carbohydrates that the yeasts feed upon."

--------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------

http://www.digestinal.com/

"Digestinal to restore proper immune system function."

--------------------------------------------- -------------------------

http://webdeb.com/zapper/testimonial.htm

Harmonic Quad 5 with Antenna, - start using it 10 minutes/day and monitor die-off reaction then gradually increase to overnight. More you use it the more you will interrupt the candida reproductive life cycle which progresses from spore to mycelial form very rapidly.  When you contact deb ask about anti candida products as well.

Good Luck!

Dear recon ... thank uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu a bunch for this helpful reply!

I didn't read everything yet but loved what you wrote..

thank you really!!!

Well you can have a look at the high-calorie foods list on this forum and see which of those foods you CAN eat. But other than that, it's hard for us to help you. Maybe you should see a nutritionist?

HI,

I'm also a registered nutritional consultant and i just want to let you know that the candida syndrome  is one of the most over diagnosed illnesses on the planet.  The symptoms you were having could easily be due to a sluggish thyroid or a dozen other things.  The power of suggestion is immense and if someone tells you that you have candida...well you will often automatically start feeling better when you eat only the allowed foods--it's sort of the placebo effect.  In truth the only people who have candida in their blood stream are people near death with severely compromised immune systems.  There are many people who make serious money by diagnosing this and then selling people candida detox kits and the like.  Fruit..if eaten in moderation does not cause any illness and is full of antioxidants.  Dried apricots for instance are very low on the glycemic index and do NOT cause a spike in blood sugar...where a plate of white pasta will.  A homeopath is not really medically trained to diagnose such an illness....you need to be wary of who you listen to.  I realize when you're not feeling well and having symptoms you can get desperate...but honestly ...just eat well..cut down on your sugar sure...but dont exclude healthy foods.
