Candy Cane Ice Cream Recipe

Submitted by mrs_accountability

Makes 7 servings

A delicious vanilla pudding made into ice cream. NOTE: The calorie counter did not recognize candy canes, so they are not included in the recipe, nor in the calorie count. I researched regular sized candy canes and they appear to be 45 calories each, so you will need to add 45x3 = 135 more calories to this recipe, and divide by 7 servings.

Ingredients
2 egg yolks
3 T. flour
1 T. vanilla
1/2 c. honey
3 cups whole milk
1/4 t. salt
Directions
  1. Put eggs yolks into a saucepan with vanilla and flour. Whisk until mixed thoroughly.

  2. Add honey, milk and salt. Whisk thoroughly.

  3. Heat over medium and stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.

  4. Chill until very cold. While pudding is chilling, blend candy canes into a fine powder leaving a few bigger chunks.

  5. Place in ice cream maker (Donvier is my favorite) and pour blended candy canes on top.

  6. Mix until the ice cream thickens.
