i have a candy craving so badly right now. someone please talk me out of it.
Reason: Moved from WL to Motivation forum
i say have a hot cup of tea or coffee and a little bit of whatever you want...anything in moderation is okay. have a tad bit and give the rest away or if you can't control yourself if you give in a little then just brush your teeth or go on a walk. what is the sweet delight that you're wanting?
Go have some candy...the more resist, the more likely you'll bing. Measure out a serving and MOVE ON.
I have candy every freakin day of my life. I just add it to my calorie allowance. This way I never have a craving for things sweet because I make sure I add something sweet to my diet. Just have some candy. Fun size candy is good. A fun size skittle package is only 60 calories. :)
I'm a bit of a chocoholic - and with loads still left over from Easter I am craving all the time.
I get through by telling myself resist now and you can have a treat later.
If you manage to be good all day allow yourself a small treat after dinner. Then if the craving comes back tomorrow give yourself another short term goal and use the candy as a reward.
just eat a little something sweet :)
I keep candy in my car, not in my house, and let myself have a handful/a serving on my way home. But many days I don't even remember it's there, so it usually turns into "bad day candy." :) I agree with past posters... if you keep depriving yourself of things you love and are craving, you are more likely to binge later. Do it with conscious control and move on.
I love chocolate!! But I know it is not the best so I try to find something else. I have been eating life savers or something with fewer calories for more pieces to get my sweet kick.
I've been having a problem with candy lately. I've decided I am going to let myself have 2 sweet snacks that are somewhat healthy. In the morning after breakfast I have a craving so I am going to have my all natural chocolate chip cookies that have healthy fats. In the evenings I also get cravings so I am going to start have rye crisp bread with a tablespoon of almond butter and natural honey drizzled on top.
ahh at work there is so much free candy.. it is hard to resist. :(
I'm a chocoholic with a sweet tooth and I can't control cravings without eating something sweet everyday. Here's what I do:
I have chocolate milk in the morning (low-fat milk and sugarfree nesquik)
I eat a few squares of dark (70% cocoa) chocolate at night. Its so bitter that, while I love it, I don't really want more than one square, and the calories aren't too high.
About once a week, I allow a 'treat.' A bowl of ice cream, a candy bar, a blizzard, whatever. I eat the small size, and its something for me to look forward to.
I LOVE candy! I live in Italy, and they don't have good candy (with the exception of chocolate), so whenever I go home to the US I always bring back the fun-size packs of candy. I find that if I have them, I am able to eat less. Just one fun-size pack of starburst or skittles works perfectly. I have run out since my last trip to the US, but I bought some decadent dark italian chocolate and I have a small piece (like 12-15 grams) every evening after dinner. They make the dark chocolate so well here that it isn't even bitter! It is something I can look forward to and it stops me from binging.
In any case, in response to the op, I would do what some of the others suggested. Eat a small bit. If you think eating a small bit will start a binge, I would still eat a small bit, but be prepared with the toothbrush or something. Or go for a walk.
- sugar free gum
- sugar free mints
- diet soda
- unsweetened coffee or tea
- brushing your teeth
- put on teeth whitening strips
- get out of the house or away from the candy
- have some fruit--nice and sweet & juicy!
