I can't believe how many calories I ate today

Quote  |  Reply

You know what they say... ignorance is bliss.  We'll I was swimming in Lake Ignorance for far too long.  After counting my calories for the first time today, I'm shocked I actually don't weigh more.

I get easily frustrated when I don't see results (in almost all areas of my life, aside from weight loss) - but I'm ready to accept that losing 65lbs is gonna take some time.

I'm new here. I'm ready to do this. I'm in it for the long haul. Who's with me?

Boy do I know how you feel! I am a stress eater, and when it gets bad I stop tasting the food and just eat mechanically. Its so horrible! I cringe to think of how bad I've been.

I was able to lose 50lbs, but since May I've gained back 35. Its pretty horrible. I want to ditch the 35lbs and get back to where I was skinny, felt wonderful, happy, and ws so energetic. My husband liked it too...

My goal is to be down those 35lbs by Christmas.

Lets do it!

Yes - we can do it! :)

I started eating 6 small meals a day, and it's helped me feel full.  Feeling full has kept me from feeling hungry and then eating mechanically - its empowering to feel in control!

I am so with you on this journey....if I don't do something now, I know it will be detrimental to my well-being.

I have 40-50 lbs to loose and I am looking for the needed support.

People that are positive that will kick me in the butt if I have a bad day. That goes both ways.

Lake Ignorance, lol...I like how you put that...

Wow, has it even been a long journey for me...

Long term Goal: 140

Lets do it all together!

And remember,

I have about 50 lbs to lose as well. I was actually the opposite of you, Lipstohips. I was eating way too little. Surprisingly, just found that out last night.  It definitely explained my previous tiredness and lack of interest in exercise. And here I thought my calorie recommendation was wrong. >>

I would love to lose roughly 20lbs in the next few months, or at least before I start college next fall. That seems pretty achievable, a whole year. :)

I'm aiming for 175 to start and will adjust that depending on how I feel when I get there. :D

Good luck all. :)

Love that quote, Sapb. :D

Yes! - definitely the #1 reason I joined this site.  In addition to counting calories and getting in daily exercise, I make sure I come on here every day to help feel like I'm not alone.

Things that help the most?  Reading success stories and encouraging others to over come challenges.  By telling other people they can do it, I feel more like I have an even greater responsibility for sticking to my goals (I don't want to by a hypocrite)!

Congrats to all of you! It really gives me the needed encouragement to stay motivated.

I eat mostly when I'm bored and tend to grab the quick and unhealthy foods that is lying around in my house, I am not buying any more junk food if my husbands wants to buy it he can as long as he doesn't eat it in front of me, which seems to be a big request to ask him. He has never had weight problems in his life so he doesn't understand why its so hard for me stick with it.

Either way, I think if I stop eating junk food, make sure I don't get to the point where I'm hungry, eat more veggies,  drink lots of water, don't eat 3 hours before going to bed and daily exercise It should do the trick.

I'm having a hard time making my calorie intake recommendation. CC says I should be having roughly 2100 a day and I'm barely getting over 1,000. That seems like so much food. It feels like I would have to eat junk food with crazy amounts of calories to get that many in me a day. The healthy food I have just doesn't have many calories in it for me to make it to 2,000. I know I'm supposed to have at least 1500 a day and I haven't had that much since I cut out all the junk food and fast food. I have no idea what to do..

I want to meet the intake but I don't know how to do that healthily. All the healthy foods make me full for a while and eating when I'm not hungry just feels like I'm overdoing it even if my calories aren't where they should be..

*sigh* I don't want my body to think I'm starving it, but I have no idea where to get enough of the calories I'm supposed to. Healthily, anyway..

(Won't be a problem on Thanksgiving though). :D
