I can't believe that just f***** happened.
I'll get into the details later when I hopefully cheer up a bit but I saw something today that I wish I had never seen. I saw a car blow a red light and clip a 7 year old on a bicycle. He landed 5 feet from my car. It was very graphic and I feel like nothing I have ever felt before.
I am deeply horrified.
your beutiful act of kindness balanced out the trollish behaviur of the driver I cant believe he didnt stop
schnooder, i hope you're ok, what a horrible thing to have to go through! i think talking about it will help when you're ready to.

Wouldn't you be? When most people have something like that happen the body is immediately FLOODED with adrenaline. Most people will respond "No way! I'd jump out of the car and rush to the boy!", which is what you mind would be screaming for you to do. Problem is that sometimes shock and adrenaline works the opposite way it should and people freeze.
I am in no way condoning the red light runner for running the red light. I think him freezing the way he did isn't to be looked down on though. Sometimes people freeze. It just happens.
Well on you Schnooder for being able to act, and doing the right thing. I hope that kid is okay, and that you'll be okay. I think a good way for you to get closure would be to find out what happened to the kid. Do you think the police would tell you?
Quick post from someone in counseling for seeing horrific things in Iraq. Schnooder, you should probably go in and talk with someone if you have nightmares or if you think about it more than just fleeting thoughts. That incident sounds awful, and it has the potential to really affect your mind. I hope he is ok and I hope you are ok

Actually I wasn't making any opinion on that, just informing enzyme. I imagine he also felt that with the other people running to help the kid that he should just stay out of it (caused enough harm already kind of thing?)

Okey dokey. I honestly don't know if he could think at all in the moment. I just hope the kid's okay myself :(
Thanks everyone. I think I was just so shook up yesterday I was freaking out a bit. I am alot better now. The little boy was admitted to the hospital I work at and he was released yesterday with some bruises, a minor concussion, and a broken ankle.
So I am very happy.
well glad hes ok and that you're ok! How scary!
I saw the aftermath of a nasty wreck when I still lived in houston....I wont go into details but it was basically an 18-wheeler, tiny pickup truck, and giant work truck (not 18 wheels but close) sandwhich.....I got a nice look at it since the highway was stopped...
I sure hope the guy in the middle didn't see what was coming...the truck looked like a ball of tin foil...*gag*...I still get sick to my stomach thinking about it
The image is burned into my brain.
I'm glad he is not too badly injured!
Last year I was going to a festival in town, so there was lots of traffic, pedestrians and confusion. At an intersection 2 little girls darted out into the road in front of an SUV, which hit both of them and knocked them down. Their mother was at the curb and witnessed the whole thing. Her blood-curdling shriek is something I will never forget - I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Fortunately the SUV was going slowly and the girls weren't badly injured - just banged up a bit. The driver of the SUV (she wasn't at fault) sat on the side of the road and sobbed for hours - she was too distraught to drive so I guess she was waiting for someone to pick her up.
I am so sorry that that happened, and that you had to see it. This world is a scary, messed up place. But God will take care of that little boy, and that driver will get what he deserves eventually!!!
Ahh thats just so horrible. It gives me goosebumps. I hope the child is ok.
