I CANT BELIEVE I USED TO EAT THAT moment?!
I have been having them left and right, and i was wondering what foods any of you guys have just sat staring at in complete disbeleif that you used to eat it all the time?.. im not talking about the occasional 'oh i ate that once' thing... for instance... when i didnt have a care in the world what i put in my body.. i used to eat ramen noodles chicken flavor..literally 1-3 times a day .. and those were just snacks.. I see my bf eat them now and im like how did i not realize those were soooo bad for me?.. thats one of my major instances i have.. another one would have to be tortilla chips with nacho cheese and salsa..me and my bf would sit and watch movies about every other night and kill almost an entire bag when we first starting dating..i cant even imagine why i would do that..obviously it taste great but damn. and lastly wawa or quickcheck subs.. ( yes there are healthier ones, which needless to say im not talking about) breaded chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, let, tom, yellow peppers all on a big round roll.. most of the times with a soda and bag of chips..
well leave out that pizza hut was one of my favorite places
!haha
ok im amazed at how i have been able to transform what i put in my body from the above diet to a healthy more balaced diet.. took me a while to get through the "find the correct way to eat" phase but im finally there..and i cant see how i will ever let myself get to that point again.
HAPPY FRIDAY !

Ooooh man, where do I even begin?
I Used to eat Cheese and Crackers almost everday, cheddar cheese and either Ritz, soup crackers, melba etc... or a variety of all of them combined! Id make a platter just for myself.... now I cant imagine eating that! All the time of course..I still eat a couple every once and a while but just cant believe how many calories I used to eat just on a "snack".
Bread... holy man did I ever eat alot of bread/carb loaded foods.... I would eat a bowl of cereal in the breakfast, along with toast, a sandwhich for lunch, then bread again with my supper! Not to mention going to the Olive Garden, I would eat 5 breadsticks in one sitting! Pizza as well..... I never realized how much I actually ate the stuff.... talk about half my calorie intake for the day!!!
Wow. Happens to me all the time.
Milky way candy bars... I work in an office type building & in the third floor kitchen is a vending machine with the biggest array of candy bars I've seen. I was eating a milky way once a day, every day.
Snack Cakes. I could eat 3 doughnut sticks or two nutty butty bars or two honey buns or powerdered doughnuts easy! Now, I pass right by that entire section in the grocery store with ease.
Bagle Bites. Still love em', but haven't eaten them recently... & I used to put extra cheese on them! YUM! & tony's frozen pizza.
I've learned to shop the "perimeter" of the grocery store.. much fresher, healthier ingredients. Less carby, refined sugar things. Once I really get good & on the diet wagon, I'll start letting myself have things here & there.... I bought a caramello and had taken 3 bites of it driving and I threw it out the window when I realized I was about to blow a whole work out.
I've never been a super unhealthy eater. During school, I ate pretty healthy and rode my bike, so I didn't gain much weight. But then I got married and my husband eats things like frozen pizzas. So once in a while we'd split a frozen pizza. I finally decided I should lose the weight I'd gained since we'd been married, and so I looked at the nutrition label on the pizza box. I was astounded to see that 1/6 of the pizza was about 360 calories! And I had been eating half just for dinner! Gross! So now i've only had frozen pizza once in about 2.5 months and when I did, I only ate 1/4 of it and I made sure it fit into my calorie allowance.
Also, when we had homemade burritos and tacos, I would eat almost as much as my husband (or just as much), when he needs almost twice the amount of calories I do because he has laborous job and I can't work yet! So now I measure my amounts and only have one burrito. Either that, or I make a taco salad, which is even less calories. I'm so glad I pay attention to calories now.
Wow, back when I worked at Noodles and Co. I ate a large bowl of pasta pretty much everyday, probably about 3 or 4 serving sizes worth, several large cokes throughout my shift, bread, a cookie or rice crispy the size of my head . . . omg, all of that everyday and sometimes I would take more food home with me for a second dinner. I have no idea how I didn't gain 10 lbs. But back then I was younger and had a faster metabolism too. Now when I go in for old time's sake I order a salad or just a pasta dish, no cookies or bread or soda, and only the occasional giant rice crispy which I split with someone when I order salad. Still can't feel full on the small size of anything there :(
OREOS AND PEANUT BUTTER and or nutella ![]()
Hahahahah sooo bad... I've always been skinny though.... but still unhealthy!
Also I used to go through gallons of orange juice so fast... it was like all I drank. That and chocolate soy milk. Boxes of LIFE cereal at a time. Lifesavers wint-o-greens.... sooooo many...
I used to love honey buns. Just one day swimming at the pool, looking upon the label and---1600 CALORIES?!?
I freaked out, looked at the fat, which is like 50 trans fat, and I literally had a mental breakdown. I am never eating one again!
Ooo yippee!! I love posts like this. Hmmm, let's see...
I use to eat mac and cheese, and always doubled up on the cheese sauce by stealing a packet from another box. YIKES!! Imagine the amount of sodium and saturated fat in that!!
I use to eat toast + 1 tbsp butter + 1 tbsp sugar/ 1 tbsp Nesquick powder for breakfast everyday in grade 5.
I was a crazy bacon-hog... I could down probably 8 strips + 2 links of sausage + scrambled eggs... eek! All that cholesterol, my goodness.
I use to make ice cream sandwiches out of 2 slices of white bread + 3 scoops of any flavor ice cream for dessert every night in the summer time of '03... I'm surprised all that refined sugar didn't turn me diabetic.
I use to always order Big Macs from Mickey D's and have a medium fries all to myself!!
Being a slave to carbs and sweets, I use to always go to Cinnabon and order their cinnamon sticky buns with extra frosting... drool... I actually still do that sometime :P
all the food i used to eat was healthy. it was definately the QUANTITY.
my portions were HUGGEEEE. like triple the normal amount. i pretty much used to eat until i was stuffed. binge everyday without realizing i was bingeing.
eeeek thank god for calorie counter ..im now at a healthy weight due to sticking to healthy portions :) yay
When I was in elementary school, my brothers and I would go to my dad's on the weekends. I lived with my grandmother during the week, who would always make me eat VERY healthy. My dad was always the "fun parent" and would buy boxes of little debbies, pop tarts, and bagels. My brothers and I could easily polish off two or three boxes of snack cakes in one night! I guess I was really young, so that isn't that bad, but I'm surprised I didn't have a sugar coma.
chocolate cake & snickers chocolate
I was never a fan of fast food (can't stand McDonalds)
I used to.....
eat cereal with eggnog.
Make milkshakes with half icecream, half pure maple syrup, and half milk.
Think nothing at all of eating an entire bag of cookies (there was a method, see, you had to presoak the first cookie in the milk....)
Eat pure maple cream and butter by the tablespoons.
Polish off entire containers of Betty Crocker French Vanillia frosting
XXL Donairs with extra pita, BK, Taco bell..... nothing was off limits.
Funny thing was, I was never technically overweight or even what I would consider "large".... I was unhealthy though.
When I was 12-15 I was a little bit pudgy, but not terribly overweight.
At 16 I had a spinal fusion and was immobile for 8 months. I mean, I could move... but anything besides laying in bed was painful. I ballooned up to 188 pounds. Even after I was able to be up and about, I still kept gaining weight because of the food habits I created. After reading this thread and thinking about it, it's no WONDER...
- I would easily eat an entire large sized Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal... fries, soda... you name it... then top it off with a milkshake.
- Grilled Stuft Burrito from taco bell (I would kill to have one of these now without thinking about it!)
- Wendy's Frosties.
- Chinese food.
- Ben & Jerry's Phish Food... polished a pint of that sucker off like it was nothing.
- Ramen Noodles coming out my ears, WITH extra seasoning.
- Any sort of frozen dinners... especially Hungry Man... but I was smart
enough (I guess?) to cut the portions in half. - Oh... more ice cream, ice cream, ice cream.
- Chips, any kind, didn't matter. I loved chips.
- 3 Muskateers bars, reese's cups, york peppermint patties, snow caps, hershey's bars...
- TONS of buttered popcorn at the movies.
- Peanut butter toast (I still cannot get away from this...)
- Honey Roasted Peanuts
- Most recently... I could eat a pound of M&M's in a day and a half.
- Pizza. Mom & I would split half a frozen pizza... very, very frequently.
- Arby's Curly Fries with Horsey sauce
Oh man. I'd still love to eat any of this. But now I know better... :(
Every fast food place I went, I would get a milkshake. Thick, creamy, sugar-laden milkshakes, along with the fried chicken sandwhiches and fries I certainly ordered. Now I don't eat meat or anything deep fried for that matter.
Tastykakes! Omg I used to eat those things like there was no tomorrow. I look at them now and cringe from all the preservatives in them!
At the start of my bulimia, I used to eat peanut butter right out the jar, and finish it 2 days. Now just the thought of that makes me sick.
When I was like 10, I used to take white bread, toast it with butter and sprinkle sugar on it.
And even worse than that, I used to eat sugar right out the bag! Ugh I'm really cringing as I'm typing this right now lol
6 Sugar Cookies & 2 Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sticks for Lunch (that's it)... ENOUGH SAID!
Oh but wait: I was the captain of the track team in 8th grade and well my friend lived next to the school field so come after practice we would go back to her house and RECHARGE... and since in my house there was NO JUNK FOOD - I mean it, not even whole wheat pasta was allowed!! - I had to stock my tummy up with some sugary goodness... so here goes on what I would eat after running like 2 one hundred meter dashes:
- 2 Kraft EZ Mac Packages
- 1 Bowl with like 3 Scoops of Ice Cream (Cookie Dough most likely)
- Fruit Loops & Milk
- A Bagel with Cream Cheese
- Fudge Shoppee Cookies
- Cinnamon Toast Crunch
- Lucky Charms
- Sliced Deli Meat (ha ha, I don't remember but I probably put it atop my ice cream or something gross like that! ha ha!)
lol back when i was 15 stone (210lbs) My Typical day would be
11am: Shops
1 large bar(or bag) of chocolate/s = 800-1000kcals
batterd Garlic mushrooms, wedges, batterd chicken strips= 700kcals
3-4 muffins= 800kcals
1pm: soup + bread= 600kcals
5pm: curry+ rice+ egg+ nan Bread/ Lemon Chicken + rice + prawn crackers
6pm: rasmuli or another sweet dessert.
9pm: cheese toastie
I am also one of those that needed quantity when eating. We ate out a lot, and I'd always finish whatever I ordered and rarely took anything home.
Places like Chilis were bad: chips with their chili queso, a 'big mouth' burger with fries, and a diet coke.
McDonalds: Double Quarter Pounder supersized with fries and diet coke.
Jack in the Box: Ultimate Cheeseburger, large fries, two tacos, diet coke.
Chipotle: Chicken burrito, two sides of chips, diet coke..
You can see the pattern! At home wasn't much better.. a lot of times my wife and I would make a large pan of breaded chicken nuggets and fries. Or chips with dip and go through a whole bag.
We'd order two large papa johns pizzas and I could eat all but about two slices of a large by myself.
Not to mention buffets.. chinese buffet or whatever, those were never anywhere near healthy.
Reflecting on these things now allows me to calm down and not freak out if it takes a little bit to lose weight. The two score of years of eating terribly does take time to reverse!
I used to eat chipotle at least 3x/week and would get it slathered in sour cream with cheese and guacamole. I still LOVE chipotle but now get it with no cheese, sour cream or guac, light rice and extra black beans. And it's still just as good!
In college I could eat a whole tube of sugar cookie dough. I also could kill an entire pack of Oreos in 2 days. I basically put myself in a sugar coma afterwards--such bad headaches! Somehow I never seemed to make the connection that I felt like crap because of the crap I was eating. Ughhhh it makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it.
I used to eat Wendys 5 pc nuggets, with honey mustard sauce, medium french fries and a frosty Mon-Fri after work at about 9:30 pm.
I am constantly (several times a day) horrified when I look at the calories on foods I used to eat regularly without giving it any thought.
DH and I would regularly polish off half a bag of chips BEFORE dinner - as an appetizer! Sometimes even with cheese or ranch dip - ugh. Going out to restaurants and ordering the appetizer, salad, meal, AND dessert!!!
Before I was a vegetarian, I would eat a bacon cheeseburger meal from Wendy's, with large fries, a coke AND a frosty - I had NO problem polishing that off. I could eat 1/2-3/4 of a large pizza from pizza hut BY MYSELF. Snacks that we have in our break room at work such as little debbies are over 300 calories each, which is practically an entire meal for me now. Yikes!! Or the times I would go out drinking (after eating 3 meals that day) and consume 1000 calories in alcohol alone, then hit up IHOP or Denny's on the way home and put away another 1000 probably in a greasy artery clogging meal. OMG....
Why do I get bad cramps after I eat?
Suspect lactose intolerance when abdominal cramps are a problem, especially after breakfast when milk products are consumed. Lactose... Read more
