hey guys,

ive recently started going to the gym again and have been burning at least 700 calories each time i go - roughly hour an half

now i add this onto 1300 - my reduced intake and get 2000 calories to eat for the day! is this right? if it is...im finding it very very hard to eat this much! i get a stomache ache really quickly and i dont know what to eat wothout it being junk food to get it over with! today i ate loads and was still 800 calories under! if i eat healthily, its too low calorie! help me, i must be doing something wrong? maybe im not burning htat much...but my hrm says i am! i dont knowwwww what to do. my tummy hurts so much! again!

plz help...thanks in advance

peanut butter, and other nuts and seeds help a lot. For example, one slice of whole wheat bread with 1 serving of PB can be 300 calories.

post an example of what you eat on a daily basis, I can give some suggestions

ok

bfast - porridge 200 cals serving

go gym...come back for lunch time

lunch - wholeweat pitta stuffed with tuna salad or wholewheat pitta with cottage cheese and salad OR egg omlette with ham and onion and a pitta

also have an apple a little after or a yoghurt and then a cup of tea with a sweet oat biscuit

snack - more fruit

dinner - wholewheat pitta with vegetable stir fry

or noodles and chicken stir fry...chicken with vegetables and gravy or lentil soup with pitta bread

dessert - fruit/ cereal bar

lol - pretty low cal stuff...am i eating the right amount though? i see people posting that they only eat 1300 a day with exercise

:S

thanks for helping
with dinner (maybe lunch), you should throw in a serving of brown rice or WW pasta, thats about 200 cals right there

I think PB would help alot. Add PB to one of those fruit snacks, liek PB with celery or PB with an apple. You can get another 250 there.

eat some eggs with the porrige, you can get another 140 there with 2 whole eggs.

that should help

700 calories burned in only 1/2 hour? is that possible? what are you doing? make sure you check that so you don't force yourself to eat for no reason

I read the post as an hour and a half.

you should add the 700 youre burning to the amt that calorie counter says you burn when youre sedentary for the day... for me its 1700. SO on a day when I burn 700 at the gym I burn 2400 cals and aim to eat about 1800 so that my deficit is about 600. Theres a lot of commentary about what deficits should be.... for me 400-600 works best. Once I get up to 800 then I stop seeing results. Also make sure you eat your minimal (no less than 1200 PLUS the calories you've burned) SO in my above example I should eat about 1900.... It's all give or take and unless we're all measuring every single thing and every single CC entry is correct its ok to be off 50 cals either way (this is my personal opinion).

why not eat some almonds for breakfast.... add 10 for 70 calories. why not add some beans or rice with lunch? with your snack you could add nuts if you didnt wnat it for breakfast. add another snack.... do skim milk with protein powder. drink more milk! one cup of 1% or skim is 80-100 cals. Drink a glass of OJ. Eat a banana.

That's all I've got. And no, don't eat 1300 and exercise. Its not enough.

I recently read an article that said that most of calorie calculators on most cardio equipment at the gym is way way off. They said that only the treadmill is remotely accurate, and only if you never ever stop while it is still running (I'm guilty) and never put your hands on the hand rails. I don't know where that puts us calorie counters... The article said that even people who weigh the same and do the same pace for the same amount of time burn quite different numbers of calories.
I have this problem too- I've found that I need to eat more calorie dense foods, instead of a lot of low calorie things. The tons of low cal foods make me feel really full and kind of ick, to be quite honest.
There are lots of ways to boost the calorie content of your day without hugely adding to the volume or making it up with junkfood. Just to take your breakfast as an example, add a glass of orange juice to your breakfast for vitamin C and extra calories. Or make your oatmeal up with full cream milk instead of (ick) water... put some dried fruit and a few pecans/almonds into the oatmeal.
700cals at the gym in half an hour? what the hell are you doing to burn that much? I would suggest you check this number it seems very very high, if it were that easy to burn 700cals we'd all be skinny.

I spend 1 hour in a spinning class or body pump lifting weights and burn around 350-400 cals depending on how hard im working. Unless your are super obsese and therefore your body is working extra hard then id say 30mins exercise is more like to burn 200ish cals.

no its not 1/2 an hour - its an hour and a half or 2 hours

ive been implementing the tips and must say im begginning to enjoy all this food :D after months of 1300!!

ive started eating peanut butter again and cooking with a little more olive oil instead of the absolute minimum! and eating a side with all my meals!

thanx again!
What on earth are you doing at the gym for 2 hours? I'm more worried about that.
