I cant get enough of sweets...

Quote  |  Reply

Hi there,

I just started to watch my weight (AGAIN), and have a really really really big problem with sweets.  I'm currently in a habbit of eating sweets once or twice a day being that there is a pastry shop in the main floor of my building.  Temptation is everywhere.  I need to break the habbit of having that daily treat and so far (2 weeks) , I have had no sucess.  Yesterday was skiddles and chocolate and today was lemon pie...  I just have no self control. H-E-L-P..

Please help if you have any tips, or any sweet snack low cal.

Thanks so much in advance.. Smile

I see you problem. I know how you feel too. I have not completely givin up sweets but I am being healthy at the same time. Here are my tips.. since you enjoy eating them everyday don't even try to completely stop eating them cause that won't work! Every other day keep switching between kinda of heathly and heathly snacks. For example, today you ate pie, tomorrow eat a healthy snack, the next day eat a slightly unhealthy snack but limit yourself.  This way youll feel proud and get to eat the good stuff. Now to limit yourslef on the days when your not eating the healthy snack try to do this. You had pie today right ? Well, next time instead of eating an entire piece of pie cut1/3 of the pie off and save it for another day and replace that little chunk you took off with a bowl of grapes. See how you only took a bit off ? Now, for thoser healthy snack days try buying non-fat yogurt, sugarfree angelcake, lowfat blueberry muffins, or try these recipes found on here. Just look uner popular recipes and youll find lowfat stuff. I know what you mean though...(today i ate M&M's and a piece of choclate !!!! Oh well)

maybe try to eat some of the 100 calorie packs of sweets like the hostess cakes. or better yet, come up with your own recipes of breads and cakes, tweak them with splenda and other tricks like applesauce instead of oil, wheat flour instead of white, and make them healthier. then make them into muffins/cupcakes w/o icing and freeze them individually. then you'll have something healthier, but sweet, and it'll be cheaper than buying stuff everyday.

and i need to follow my own advice :)

I used to be the same way.  If you can just stay away from the sweet for about 2 days it gets easier.  The cravings go away after a couple days.

Try switching to fruit maybe.  I know it's not the same though!

Thanks so much for the advice guys.   It really is all about proportions and a good balance...   Its defentaly an addiction....one that I need to control instead of cut-off~ because if I cut it off, I know I will have withdrawls.. Hehehe!!

Alright well thanks again- this is great advice...! Laughing

I find my sugar cravings increase with more exercise - could be a sign I'm not eating enough proper food?

Having said that though, I do eat sweets everyday. I allot about 100-300 cals per day depending on what else I eat - thus I can have whatever I want, just in small portions.

i LOVE sweets too!  when i'm at the grocery store thinking "hmm, a dessert might be nice to pick up" i avoid the cookie dough because i know as soon as i eat it i will feel gross.  i like having a sweet fruit, like a clementine, instead.  or you could have berries and yogurt.  yummm

check out low carb deserts that are easy and fast to make...You can google  or one site that is good is Cookingcache.com.  Weight watchers and southbeach all have goodies at the supermarket.  You can make healthly choices.

have ambrosia dessert with raisins added, or strawberry jelly. i have those if i ever want chocolate and it satisfies me right away.
