How many calories are in an average hardboiled egg WITHOUT the yolk?

I am looking to add more protein (hate beans) and LOVE eggs!

I don't want to have yolks as I am watching my cholesterol!

Thanks

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone actually have a reputable study that cholesterol in eggs is bad for you?

UD

Eggs might have cholesteral, but they also rais the good level of cholesterol too.. which is good for you. Unless you're limited by calories, I'd eat the yolk. That's where all the nutrition is anyways. The white stuff doesn't have much of anything in it.

As for the amount of calories in it, it'd be the same as it is raw unless you added stuff to it. How many egg whites are in the average egg? Look that up and you should have it. Hope this helps.

As a random guess.. I'd guess maybe 16 calories or less per each egg's egg white.

ok am I totally wrong to assume that egg whites are HUGE in protein??  That's what i need....def not more calories

I would estimate about 15-20 calories of protein from the whites.  I eat hard boiled egg whites a lot as well.  I do feel bad for tossing the yolks but like you I dont need extra calories and low cal all protein snacks are always a nice edition.

You could also make a yolk less egg salad w/ FF Sour cream or greek yogurt for even more protein, it tastes really good with dill, and all kinds of pepper, celery seed.

Save the yolks and you can make a hair treatment or a custard.

Hard boiling an egg doesn't change the nutrition.  You can just use the data for egg white, raw.

Its around 17 for a large egg and 23 I think for an extra large.

There is no proven data (there are actually many studies that have shown against it) that the yolks affect your bad cholesterol. Though they do contain most of the calories in the egg if thats why you leave them out.
Personally I just think the yolk tastes yucky, haha.

I think you can just search for egg whites. It is also on the back of the egg carton I have. Here is what I use:

I used this as a start point

http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition-calori es/food/generic/hard-boiled-egg-white-no-yolk

I buy liquid egg whites in a carton instead of throwing out the yolks. The nutritional info says 25 cals & 5 g protein for 50 mL serving. 1 egg white = 2 tbsp = 30 mL so we're looking at ~15 cals & 3 g protein per egg white.

Also, I posted about enjoying devilled eggs in my journal recently and some random commenters said "be careful of the cholestorol! I thought that myth had been debunked ages ago so I googled it and found this egg study:

"Eating one egg per day does not increase a healthy person's risk of heart disease or stroke, according to a study funded by the National Institutes of Health." (More here: http://www.enc-online.org/GoodNews.htm)

I usually just mix 1 egg with 1/2 or less of egg whites for more protein & less fat.

According to "The Daily Plate", and I saw this sited earlier in the postings, one boiled egg white is 17 calories. The whole egg? About 77 calories.

yolks are the nst part and soooooooooo healthy!!

Heh.  Caloriecount does make it hard to find.  :D  Look up "egg white."  It has the same calories hardboiled as it does raw.  Previous poster is right.  15 calories, 3 g of protein.

Help! I can't find egg white with 15-20 calories anywhere on Calorie Count!!! Can someone... anyone... help!?

Thank you :)
