I can't loose weight!
Hello,
Babycakemom here. I have been a member of calorie count since August. Since August I have not lost weight. I have gained 15 pounds. I quit smoking in July. I have maintained a 1800 calorie diet and started walking twice a day. I am so frustrated. My chart always says I burn more calories than I take in. I should be loosing weight. I went to my doctor two weeks ago and she increased my Thyriod medication. I have hypothyroidism. I thought this would help, but I am still gaining an average of a pound per day. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to ask for that same information!
=^..^= MOLLY
I am 5' 31/2" I currently weigh 225 lbs. I am a large frame woman. 41 years old. My goal is 131 lbs according to calorie count.com . My doctor just says keep up the good work. I go back in a month to see her since she raised my thyroid medication.
"I can't loose weight" or spell
Sorry to hear that this is happening to you, but when your thyroid is out of wack, all the calorie counting and exercising in the world won't save you. I would keep doing what your doing to try to slow down the weight gain and then hopefully your doctor can help you.
I hope you get better and your weight gain slows down but until then, don't lose hope. Keep up with your exercise routine and continue to watch what you eat! All you can do at this point is to try to be as healthy as possible. GOOD LUCK!!!
Sorry but I think that was totally unnecessary. The OP isn't asking for advice on grammar and spelling, she's confiding in us because she's stressed out about losing weight--something that everyone here struggles with. Let's not be nitpicky and instead help each other out, huh?
Given your age, the fact that you have recently quit smoking and your issues with your thyroid, I would guess your Base Metabolic Rate is lower than average. I have found some info on various sites that support this.
I think when we are faced with this much weight to lose, and factoring in our ages, we are sort of outside some of the conventional calorie-count wisdom. Every woman (note: 'woman') I know here that has more than 60 or so pounds to lose, finds success only when they go lower than the site recommendations. Normally they also have best success when they do not 'eat back' excercise calories.
People that get within 40 pounds or so, seem to fit into the calculations.
Honestly, low-stress excercise and 1500 cals a day, seems like a winning combination (for me at least).
Good luck to you, honey. Whatever you decide, remember the only way to fail is to quit trying.
I do not think that the cc system takes into account thyroid conditions. You may have to drop your calorie intake more that what is indicated.
I do not think you are gaining a pound a day or you would have gained 143 pounds since august first instead of 15.
Assuming the 15 pounds are from August first then you have consumed on average 367 (15*3500/143 days) calories extra per day; therefore, assuming you are not starving, I would try to drop your intake from 1800 per day to 1300 to 1400 per day. to maintain. If your medication kicks in then you should see some weight loss.
If you are hungry eat vegetables to make you feel full (won't add many calories but you will not be hungry)

Hello,
Thank you everyone for your support. I am really going to work at this starting January 1st. 1500 calories and continue the exercise, maybe even kick it up a notch. Thank you so much for all the advice and the support. I also wanted to say that normally I can "spell" I was just stressed that day. Thanks so much for the comment on the matter.

as you get more into things, you will learn to 'play' with it and making/meeting goals becomes a cool challenge and sometimes frustrating/sometimes fun. for instance, right now I am doing 4 days at 1400 because I am hoping to be just under the wire for meeting my NY goal! But, Jan 1, I will move up to @ 1500 for a week or so and then, once a week, or when under stress I can't identify, I allow myself up to 2000 (that would be my max at my desired weight!)
meantime, read what you can about thyroid problems...don't always trust drs to know everything.
good luck and stay with it.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
