I Can't keep it off.

I started this school year by losing almost 4 pounds in a month and a half. That was really good for me, because I just can't seem to lose weight ever. Then my period came, and I usually gain weight during my period, but then it didn't go away. Then I stopped using calorie count as often, and I've gained back so much weight in the past two weeks that I'm almost back three pounds up. I've tried so hard, and I just can't do it. I thought that things were finally getting better, and I've been working really hard with two and a half hours of field hockey practice on week days and eating less, but I think I've been just too overwhelmed. I was hoping to have lost 6 lbs by my birthday, but it's tomorrow and I've just put back so much weight. Anyone got some tips or something? Any form of encouragement please, because I really need some positive thoughts right now.

well when i feel like this i just plan a day where i'll eat like a pig, and afterwards i feel like h--- cause i usually go up to about 2,500 to 3,000 calories. then the next day i go to 1,350 which isn't my set amount of calories since i don't do anything all day (lol), but it's like the shift in calories makes them go away, then the day after that im back to normal with 1,200 calories, and well i don't weigh myself for 3 weeks so i can see a change and im happy. and this is without any excersise :D, im sooo lazy.

If you are playing field hockey you are probably gaining muscle. If you eat properly and keep doing field hockey you will gain muscle and tone up -- you may weigh the same but it won't look the same. Also the more muscle you have the more fat your body will burn on its own.

Make sure you eat well and healthy -- you need to get enough calories or your body will not shed weight. Try to eat 40% good carbs (whole grains, veggies, fruits), 30% lean protein and 30% good fats at each meal and snack!

I agree with nbkelly. You're probably gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat. Try taking your measurements instead of depending on the scale. Also, make sure you're getting enough calories. Your metabolism slows down if you're not getting enough nutrients. Get enough sleep, too. Your body produces a lot of healthy chemicals when you're sleeping. Try not to stress out about it, either. Stress is not good for weight loss. It sounds like you're on the right track, though. Don't worry about the scale.
