I can't run and I'm getting sketchy
I injured my knee a week ago and I was running every morning (which is why I injured my knee, ha!) Now because I'm not exercising twice a day, I'm beating myself up. I kind of hit a plataue for the last few weeks, hovering at a weight of 270ish, I just weighed in this week at 268 in the evening, and I usually weigh myself in the mornings so I suppose thats progress. But I was clipping along at a great pace there for awhile. My diet has been great, no binges or slips or dips. I've recorded all my late night cookie raids and I'm staying below my 3000 calorie intake, most days I'm at 2400-2800.
Just because you've injured your knee doesn't mean you can't exercise at all. I used to be a runner, but also injured my knee. There are still plenty of exercised you can do that have no impact on your knee. You can lift weights or do resistance training, go biking, or find a pool to swim or run in the water.
I think that's great that your diet is going well, and you have made progress, but don't let an injury be an excuse for not working out.
I still use an elliptical trainer, cycle, weights etc something every day. It's just that the running was such a pleasure. I'm waiting a few days and will go back to it, it's more frustrating than anything else.
I learned the hard way it's better to let yourself recover fully rather than run while you're injured. You'll regret it later - I did.
A couple years ago I pulled my groin muscle. I stupidly continued running until (on one of my runs) it hurt so much I could barely walk. I hobbled home, crying all the way. Long story short - I was "out of commission" for six months. That's one of the dumbest things I've ever done.
I think you should give yourself a few days off. Before you know it you'll be feeling better and be back at it. Good luck!
I know exactly how you feel , I have been training for the last three months and everything has been going great, losing weight fast and all that but then four weeks ago I decided to up the training, I suppose before my legs were ready and I inflamed my whole upper leg, but stupid me couldn't stop running and ran for another week , even completing a fitness test for work 3 mins under the time, which is why now I'm laid up and even walking to the shops is hurting .
Its so frustrating!! Its gradually getting better but I'm worried too and where I am at the moment has no scales so I can't even see how I'm going but all I can say is try and cut your calorie intake a bit more to make up for the calories you would normally be burning , obviously not exactly but your metabolism will be up from training you have been doing. try and do sit ups and push ups and other exercises that don't rely on your knee to get your heart rate going in the morning.
Also to prevent this from happening again , once you have healed , make sure you alternate your training, running on roads every day was what happened me, so maybe do grass wrok one day and maybe cycle the next , this will give muscles and bones a chance to catch up and work different ones!
Good Luck!
