During the week I do great, I eat the right foods and get my workout done every day.  No matter how many times I tell myself to keep it up during the weekend, I just don't

I need to be able to keep it up during the weekend!  I hate myself for eating bad or overeating... but I am so weak when it comes to Saturday afternoon.  I've tried scheduling activities for the family and everything, just to stay out of the kitchen.

I'm at a loss, please help!  I generally gain a pound or two every weekend, after losing 2 or 3/week.  These are my stats:  23y/o, 5'7, 216lbs.  THANK YOU!

just want to let you know that you are not alone by a long shot. don't know if i can help though beings i have the same problem.

the difference i think is the alcohol. i don't drink at all during the week but on the weekends, i have a couple drinks. vodka and oj. two drinks. doesn't seem like enough to put you over a lb or two but it does. i think it is because i drink them later at night.

we eat out a lot on the weekends. that may have something to do with it. i had cereal and milk for breakfast plus two latte's to wake me up. made with the sweetener i am being told today makes us fat and non fat milk 6oz. then it's off to the mall. i had 3oz of  frozen yogert (75 cal) then i had a grilled chicken sandwich (only ate 3/4) and fries(only ate 1/2) and another latte 8oz with ff milk. got home and had about 1.5 cups of grapes and a snack size butterfinger. did not eat dinner because i wasn't going to have fast food again. i also had went on a hike up a mtn with my bf that morning and burned 450 calories.

got up this am and i am 2 lbs up. i will be down 2lbs by friday for sure but i feel your pain.

i guess what we have to do is get on line and LOG it before we eat it! that's what we are here for. we just have to commit. and KEEP at it. keep at it. we will eventually get there! i promise.

I have the same problem on the weekends. But I found out that if you at least add some exercise and not go too over board, you'll be okay. My trick is weighing myself only once a week. I know it's hard but that scale can play with your mind. I weigh myself friday morning, then not again until the next week. Sometimes your weight will fluctuate because of salt and water retention, so the scale isn't always accurate. If you only weigh yourself once a week, you will avoid alot of frustration and hey, by having one cocktail or 1/2 order of fries on saturday, you are not going to ruin your hard work. Remember a pound is 3200 calories, I highly doubt you are overeating by that much on saturday.
thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it!!  Let's work together to make weekends the best part of every week :)

I have so much trouble with the weekends! Cutting down on drinking has helped a lot, but I'm still always tempted to eat out.

Breakfast is fine, I usually have the same thing most days. Dinner is probably ok too, provided we're not eating out somewhere, but I go to the markets saturday and get fresh fish so that helps to encourage me to cook saturday night, it's never as good by monday. Lunch and snacks is my killer, and my gym is closed on the weekends except 7am-9am saturday morning, so no gym work for me!

What I'm going to try to do this weekend is make some gourmet but healthy lunches. Like salads that have warm meat in them. Or something with eggs in it, or just something that I wouldn't be able to have while I was at work during the week.

Consider as well that you have to eat 7000 calories over your maintenance to gain 2 lb of fat. It's quite likely that your 2lb is mostly water. I gained 2lb in 3 days this weekend, but I lost it all plus a tiny bit more over the next three days, without starving myself. It was just water retention and probably some extra undigested food.

The weekends kill me, too... but the one thing I have really noticed, by Friday rolls around, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, I NEVER get 8 glasses of water in. I think this might be a key factor for all of us. Especially those of us that consume way more sodium on the weekends.

Does anyone know if we're consuming more sodium than we should, if drinking more, say 12 glasses of water, will help NOT retain water? Maybe flush us out more. I hope! I think that means mid-day I will guzzle 4 bottles (about 24oz ea.) of water! And then pee every 15 min. Ha.

I have to tell ya, I'm a huge advocate of having one day at maintenance or no more than 500 above that.  It does wonders, and your body will love you for it which is why you are still losing at the incredible rate that you are.  Often when we eat above our restricted levels it means more bulk of course and more sodium which in turn holds water.  I find that after every saturday I gain and it comes right back off and I still have weight loss every week.

Keep up with water intake.  I find it helps, usually instead of a 2 pound water gain, I will have one if I drink my water.
