i cant stay home alone...
otherwise i just eat like crazy. im not even hungry, but i feel the need to eat. i'm really good with being with friends and turning down high cal foods when i'm with other people, but when im at home alone i cant stop eating.
anyone else like this?
Oh yes. I used to be just like that. I'd wait until everyone went to bed and then I'd have a binge-fest. It's because no one is watching and there's no one to critisize you.
I got over it - it took a couple years! Drink a full 8 oz of water and then eat protein. It will fill you up but, just in case, have lots of fresh fruit, low-fat yogurt, nuts, etc. on hand. Just tell yourself that you're going to allow yourself to eat but your head is in charge of choosing what you eat.
I feel your pain - I live alone.
I cope by not having junk food in my house and always having plenty of healthy low-cal options on hand. If I'm going to go over my calories, I first wait a bit and see if the feeling subsides (sometimes it's just the urge to eat or boredom). I also consider if the snack is question is worth what it might do to the scale. I miss the days when eating wasn't analytical, but I do like the results!
You don't have a problem.
According to your profile you're 15 and you're 5'6".... 117lbs (8st 5lbs) is very light for someone 5'6" who's body is still developing. Your body wants to eat, wants to grow and you're trying to hold it back. You're moving from being a 'girl' to a 'woman' and that means you get a little bigger... Don't fight it.
http://www.kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/bmiz2.h tml If you enter your stats in this link you'll see that you're a perfectly healthy weight for someone your age and height. You need about 2150 cals a day to maintain your weight and be healthy. Start eating better rather than eating less. Aim to make meals filling, satisfying and nutritious and you're less likely to keep grazing. Some tips...
- Eating enough for your size/age/activity level is vital.... simply put, if you try eating a lot less than your body needs it will react by making you eat more.
- Hot food and drinks are more satisfying than cold food and drinks. Porridge (oatmeal), soups and hot drinks are more filling than cold cereals, salads and chilled sodas.
- Vegetables and other fibrous foods such as wholegrains mean meals are bulkier and more satisfying. Have some at each meal
- Protein and fat makes a meal take longer to digest.... Aim to get some of both at each meal. Fat-free foods are not satisfying by contrast.
- Sugary/starchy/processed foods like cereals are very unsatisfying to eat and trigger sugar/starch cravings and overeating. Eating more wholefoods is a good option.
- Regular meals with light snacks in between make a person less likely to overeat than if they skip meals or go too long between eating and get hungry as a result. Always have snacks handy.
- Find other things to do.... Boredom is a major factor in mindless overeating. If you are busy and your mind is occupied you are less likely to find yourself eating for entertainment.
You've been told this on several occasions (I even copy/pasted the bulk of this answer from an earlier thread of yours) and still you're posting about the same 'problem', and seem unable to embrace the idea of eating normal amounts of food. You should probably talk to your parents about the way you feel and obviously stop dieting immediately .... Failing that, talk to a doctor. Disordered eating is a very slippery slope.
