I can't stop myself.

Quote  |  Reply

I keep stopping my diet and then starting it.. it never ends. I'm nearly 160 pounds, 22 years old and 5'3.5 ft.

I used to be thin, but now I'm overweight. I know my healthiest weight would be around 130, but I just can't continue dieting without stopping myself.

I have a huge get together for Thanksgiving and some of the people I will see remember me as thin..so, If they see me looking like this, I'll feel completely ashamed. I really want to be in the 140s for Thanksgiving even if it's just 149.

This site states that I cannot be under 149 by Thanksgiving but sometimes I weigh 157 on a good day, so I'm hoping I will be down to 146 or under by thanksgiving. I don't want to do anything too drastic, but I certainly want to lose this weight and stick to a diet that has great results. So basically, my short-term goal is to lose only about 10 pounds and my long-term goal would be to lose 20-30 pounds.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

hello. sounds like we're about the same here. im 20, 5'3" and weigh 158 lbs. i too have always been thin, ranging anywhere from 125-135, but 3 months ago i had my daughter and i have quite a bit of weight to lose now. my goal was to have my weight lost by thanksgiving but being stuck at a plateau for 3 weeks puts me a little behind schedule. i would also like to hopefully lose another 10+ lbs by then. to me, this diet is a fairly easy one. as long as youre eating low cal foods and counting them, youll definitely lose weight. i started CC september 3rd and i lost 14 lbs before october came..and thats without any excersise whatsoever. now its just trying to get past this plateau. :(

Meri- Best of luck on this!  2 items to note:

1- this weight loss is definitely possible, but realize that you need to count those calories.  The best way to do this is load your cabinets with healthy snacks like veggies.  I know this is tough, but keep after yourself.  Stay away from the sweets, chips, and other things that you might normally chow on while at home.  Also, WATER WATER WATER!  Your body will like you for it, and it will help with keeping your cravings down.

2- Walk 30 minutes a day.  Period.  No if's, and's, or but's.  Walk at a pace of at least 4 mph, and do it everyday, whether outside or inside at your local mall.

I know these are two things that seem way too simple, but as the saying goes, "The devil is in the details."  And these easy details can make or break you.  The best thing is that they aren't difficult, and you can see immediate results within the first week.  I'm going to say that 2-3 lbs in that first week would be the minimum you can expect, if you stick with it.

Keep weighing yourself daily, and do it at the same time.  It's a great way to keep yourself in check.  Don't sweat some variation from day to day, but I would definitely pay attention to a 3 day running average.

Best of luck,

Jared
