In the last 2 weeks I have gained another 7 lbs. I am now at 185. Before I know it I will be at 200. I'm to the point now where I think I will just say the heck with it and let it go and then wait until I get to the point where I can have gastric bypass. There is nothing else I can do. I have tried and tried to diet/lifestyle change and nothing helps.
My aunt had a gastric bypass and she has major problems with gas. Also, it undid iteself as she continued to eat. It's no easy solution. Keep working out and eating less if you can. It's better for your body.
Do not let your weight increase and increase.. always remember that there are people in the same situation as you. Work hard and you will be able to see the results.
I think that you have taken a good first step in joining CC. For me the first few weeks were the most difficult. You are the only person who can do it and it is definitely hard work.
The trouble with gastric bypass is that it is a medical procedure and comes with risks. Not only that, I have known many people who had the procedure and ended up gaining the weight back over the years.
It is always better to eat a little less and move a little more. I don't suggest a strict "diet" because diets dont work. The word "diet" has such a negative connotation and restricting yourself just makes you want things all the more. I like the words moderation and lifestyle change.
If you ever need someone to talk to or a little motivation, let me know! You CAN do it!
do you want to have a gastric bypass because of 200 pounds only? are you kidding me?
honey, I am in the same situation as you. I am 190 something. I am working on developing healthy eating habits and losing weight in a natural way instead of having any medical procedure. many people have tried so many times to lose weight and keep trying until they succeed. keep trying and you will succeed. It doesn't have to be a major change. Just small changes and take it one step at a time. Good luck.
Please think twice before having Gastric Bypass...my sister had the operation and yes she did lose over 200 lbs in about 2 years but since then she has put it all back on...she did not ever learn to control her emotional eating, and stopped exercising..she is now more miserable than before the surgery.. She has had so many health issues and is now battling an iron deficiency.. The surgery will not do ANY good until you can control your emotional urges and eating habits, I started my new lifestyle journey weighing 235 in June my doc said the cholesterol levels were enough to kill me...and I had to do something...just try something small to change 1st. I have lost 46lbs to date... do not think of it as a diet..just a healthy lifestyle change. and once you start with one change and get used to it and feel good..you will be amazed on how easy other changes can be put into place...DO NOT GIVE UP on yourself. You are worth the effort!!
I think the question here that has not been asked is what are you doing to lose the weight? What kind of diet are you eating, work outs, etc.... Bypass surgery is not the answer for all. As others have said there are the risks with any surgery and you are not learning to eat correctly. This is the first things that needs to be answered. If you are on a 1300 calorie diet you need to make sure that you are eating the right foods and spreading them throughout the day. Not having them all at one time or just in the evenings cause your not hungry in the morning. Check with your doctor to see if there isnt any other underlying problems. I will check back to see if you reply to this. Keep going. Please dont give up. Good Luck.....
if you truly feel that you cannot manage your eating and your lifestyle, then the gastric bypass surgery IS ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR YOU. but I think you know that. manageing your food lifestyle is much more complicated and difficult after surgery. (i've not had the surgery but I've had about 4 coworkers who have had it, with WIDELY varying levels of success, plus my husband had it almost a year ago.)
your post seems to be out of frustration and we all experience that but that is why we are here. to vent and get support from other CCers.
i can't imagine you are seriously considering a deliberate weight gain and additional risk to your health in an attempt to obtain a surgical intervention that may or may not work for you. you got some good advice in the above replies, i hope you seriously consider it.
for a real idea of what can be accomplished through determination, willpower and discipline, go to the profile of moderator "mollymouser" (see above, she moderates this forum) - it is absolutely mind-bogglind and awe-inspiring. she is funny, smart, wonderful, real, has successes and setbacks just like all of us - but most importantly she is an example of how to take control of your life and your health and make the success happen!
One method is to keep your daily diet below 1000, and excercise 3 times a week, drink lots of water, and eat a banana in the morning cos it will bloat you up with potassium, and also sleep at least 7 to 8 hours everyday.
just keep it up, when you see changes to your body, you will feel satisfied.
moaning is no use because it doesnt get you anywhere, the thing is that once you reached your target weight, you're done! just maintain the weight. its a long term task but its satisfying.
most of all, stay healthy [:

*NO*
Any diet which involves the consumption of less than 1200 calories is a crash diet, that can do more harm than good in the long term. I would dig out the CC+ rulebook and find the quote that says you should not promote starvation diets, but I'm having trouble finding it - sure someone will dig it out for me...
To the OP - I think that, by allowing yourself to reach 200lbs for the sole purpose of having a gastric band fitted is a bit silly. The extra weight will put strain on your heart and bones, not to mention the fact that the more weight you gain, the higher the chances are of you developing stretch marks, or loose skin.
As tacky and cheesy as it sounds, the old fashioned calorie counting way is best. Have you analysed why you are gaining this weight? If it is a case of overeating, maybe try eating more lean protein and vegetables in order to feel full. If you feel that you are eating around or below your BMR, then you should go and see your doctor - you could have a thyroid or hormonal problem.
If you feel confident enough to post your stats and eating/exercise plan on here, I'm sure everyone will be more than willing to give you an idea of how you can improve your lifestyle.
